A march and rally against the impending war in Iraq was held Saturday, January 11 in downtown Mountain View, California. Six hundred people gathered in City Hall Plaza to to hear a speech from State Assembly Member Sally Lieber (also a former mayor of Mountain View). They then marched through downtown. At one o’clock the marchers returned to City Hall Plaza where they heard speeches denouncing the Bush Administration’s preparation for war. Speakers included Mark Silverman of Jewish Voice for Peace (http://www.jerwishvoiceforpeace.org), Bill Michel of the Sierra Club (http://www.sierraclub.org), Jim Haber of the War Resistors League (http://www.warresistors.org), Paul George of the Peninsula Peace and Justice Center (http://www.peaceandjustice.org), George Johnson of Veterans for Peace (http://www.usasfbay.org) and Peace Activist Ernie Goiten, who gave the opening speech. Goiten stated “The time comes when silence is betrayal.” Raging Grannies, members of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, performed a medley of protest songs. The event was sponsored by Mountain View Peace Walk.

Wow, what a good surprise! 600+ Peace marchers in a city of ?40,000?

Hope you good folks are just warming up for the Big Show against the BushWars on Jan. 18. We'll have over 1,000 marching in solidarity in mid-Pac on Saturday also, as are millions across the Globe. This is looking like a true citizens' movement for Peace and against Imperialist Wars without end.

What a pathetic showing in Mountain View last Saturday. After hearing a commotion outside, I took a look and saw a couple hundred pathetic people with too much time on their hands. I went upstairs and just turned up the TV louder so I couldn't hear the people anymore. Imagine that, just turning up the TV two notches could drown out the thunderous sounds of a Mountain View "protest."

Note to non-Silicon-Valley readers here: the same people who were marching down the streets protesting "Bush's greed for oil" and "America's greed for power" were the same greedy Internet dot-com millionaires you read about in the newspapers and magazine. After going on the "Silicon Valley Sabbatical" (ok, they just got fired), they have a lot more time on their hands. To make sure they don't look like patriotic Americans to their mostly foreign neighbors (can anyone say H1-B serfdom?), they spend their newly-found free time marching in these "protests."

What happens when Silicon Valley is the target of an attack like the one we saw in NYC? Don't you think that Silicon Valley is one of the most target-rich areas in America for terrorists? Do you understand what effect an attack in our Valley would mean for the country's economy? For the world economy?

Idiots.

Hey Joe Blow,
Sounds like you got too much time on your hands, watching the boob tube and all.
I guess you're too busy with CSI to safeguard SillyCon Valley from all the wannabe terrorists.
Pathetic creeps like you should just stay indoors because you are too lazy to do jack.
All you do is whine and fret and criticize others as you are incapable of doing anything but huddling in your house in fear like a coward.

So Freeman, did you get your exercise in San Francisco on Saturday? "Marching" for .... whatever you all are marching for. Remind me, what is it again that you are marching for? I know, you know, the American people know what you are marching against. But what are you for?

So, now that you're done "marching" on San Francisco, do you feel some overwhelming sense of accomplishment? Like you actually achieved something? The U. S. will go to war whether or not you pot-smoking, non-inhaling peaceniks want it or not.

Sorry, but 67% of Americans are for this war. You, my friend, are in the small, small minority.

Can you prove it?

Silence IS golden ... and proves that there IS, in fact, NO PROOF, for such an absurd "approval" rating.

Some ultra-morons will believe anything!

Why else would they desperately cling to their twisted, baseless, Roman-Empire remnants?!
