Last time, we ran as a group and the cops couldnt keep up. Most of them seemed almost asleep, some of them seemed sympathetic to our cause, and only a few of them seemed agitated at all. I literally saw one sitting on the sidewalk with his eyes closed.

So really, don't fear the cops. Fear the Peace Nazis who only wish to further their political career. They're the only ones posting threatening comments on indymedia like the last one.

I have a feeling this protest will tell all. Are you eyeing a political career and using dead Iraqi children to get there? If so, expect to be exposed for the fraud you are at this protest.

If you think THAT'S a threatening comment, then you better stay home next week, junior. And now I'm busy stacking dead Iraqi children to further my political career. The trick is, you don't lead 'em so much. Vote for me in 2004.

well, it's pretty clear to everyone that a gigantic march with plenty of advanced notice to law enforcement is a bad time to actually do anything illegal, where there are plenty of uniformed and plainclothes police around. This is true unless you're part of the small fraction of people who are suicidal, with a death wish, who want to go down in infamy or with lots of scene points. But it's not as though there should be such a high pressure around the high profile event either; it's not a failure if no one gets arrested (unless you're participating in old school pacifist civil disobedience where you are striving to get arrested), because there is plenty of time at 4am for these things - case in point, the breakaway march at the last big IAC rally was not a failure when everyone surrounding the black bloc ran back to the military recruitment center but the person who said they wanted to hurt its windows couldn't find the right building. The march down Market still visually looked cooler than anything at the democratic convention protests in 2000 LA. Big marches just play to the media anyway - not a time for monkey wrenching.

I'm constantly surprised at the actions that are taken in plain view of the cops. I prefer to move in the dark, before the protest or afterward. Unless, of course, I know they can't catch us. Unfortunately, the last few D.C. protests were overwhelmingly police. People did dumb shit while completely surrounded. What's with that?
Some of us just can't afford to be arrested again. Besides, I can do more damage to the thugs out here.

Ridge here. I'm all set for the Black Bloc get together in DC on 1/18. You see, I'm making an all out effort to get down with the anarchists, find out what makes them tick, and feel the terrible pain that causes them to take such a hateful attitude towards their society. Only by reaching out to the misguided can I hope to set them on the straight and narrow.

So I've been getting myself all prettied up for the Big Day. I just went down to Hot Topics and got some great anarchist apparel, including a spiffy Rage Against the Machine tee-shirt. I heard you violent anarchists just LOVE Rage Against the Machine. And I have to say, their music's got a good beat! "I was driving down Rodeo with a shotgun in my hand/These people haven't seen a brown-skinned man/Since their grandparents bought one!" Yeah, baby!

Well, pardon me, I've got to get through the first section of the Anarchist Cookbook before bedtime. Wow, look at all these cool bomb-making tips! It reads like one of those manuals we gave Osama back in the 80s, before he got all huffy. Hey, it IS one of those manuals! What's going on here...........?!
