Happy New Year! It is time to put on those peace march shoes! TODAY, January 4, 2003, we need you for leafletting, phonebanking and signing up for the thousands of tasks that make a 1 million person peace march possible. That's right, we want ONE MILLION PEACE MARCHERS IN SAN FRANCISCO, RAIN OR SHINE, ON JANUARY 18, 2003.

Postering, leafleting, phonebanking, and more...
For information or updates, call 415-821-6545.

You can leaflet movie lines, college campuses, your favorite commercial area, bus stops, train stops, any social/political/community events you attend and any other location where people gather.

You can ask local merchants to put the poster in their window and you can put the poster in your window at home.

If it rains, we will be marching with our rain gear. We have done that before and we will do that again and again until we have peace on earth.

"If it rains, we will be marching with our rain gear. We have done that before and we will do that again and again until we have peace on earth."

Somehow I doubt that ANSWER wrote that part. It just doesn't fit with Workers World's line.

The good news is a significant number of people know about the peace march; the bad news is that we need to do a lot more work to get 1 million to march, but it can be done. After an 8-hour day which included 6 solid hours of leafletting here in San Francisco, I found the more urgent the statement, the more likely they will take your leaflet.

When things were going good, I just stuck to "March for Peace January 18, Stop All Wars."

When people seemed reluctant, I stepped it up to "March for Peace; March for the Bill of Rights; March for Our Tax Dollars on January 18." That got far more takers of the leaflets.

In all cases, whenever I saw men in their teens or 20s, I would add: "The draft could soon start and if you are 18 to 26, you could be drafted." That helps, although the young people are very shy. I suppose if you are closer to their age, it helps.

In any event, everyone who can continue to leaflet and poster, please do so. If you have not done so already, make a financial contribution. The lives we save will not only be those of Iraq, but our own. We face both war abroad and fascism at home. The Fourth Amendment has already been gutted by the Fascist "Patriot" Act and the Gestapo Homeland Security Act. The Gestapo can bust into our homes at any time, whether or not we are home, and take anything they want. They are now holding citizens indefinitly in prison without charges. This is Nazi Germany all over again and both these measures were supported by Democrats and Republicans. Some of the best statements I heard were from senior citizens, the World War 2 generation. They all said, as I have always said, that Bush is another Hitler.

LET'S HAVE ONE MILLION MARCH FOR PEACE IN SAN FRANCISCO ON JANUARY 18, 2003.

Hey . . . . I didn't realize until I typed that . . .

Anyway, thanks for your excellent work!! I'm hoping to do some leafletting soon but have to finish a local project first.

It's great that you put down your experiences here. I'll keep this thread in mind and check back. Please update it when you get a chance.

The effect of a person handing a flier out to someone *is* really important.

Judging by the sheer number of comments this threat generated , the march should be a huge success. Ouch!!
by Texas is so cold this time of year
"Judging by the sheer number of comments this threat generated...."

You meant to say "thread generated"

Quite amusing Mr. Bush Admirer (oh, sorry, I shouldn't have stated it was you posting the above).

I could use some help getting to the word out for the Washington DC march on Jan. 18

It will run on the same day as the San Fran. march.

I'm not sure where to turn to help get the word out for the Atlanta area.

If anyone is interested in helping me and some of my friends, email me at gizmo5096 [at] hotmail.com
