The Sierra Club has placed a "gag order" on a Utah chapter for speaking out
against the war.

I put in a call to them today about their lack of position against the war, and the guy I spoke with was very supportive and said that they are deciding
whether to strengthen their stance now. He sounded like he wanted to push them more and said he had gotten lots of calls, so if YOU call too it will help push
them even more! To be prepared take a look at their non-statement, that actually is imperialist in that it calls for Iraq's disarmament, but says
nothing against a US war go to http://www.sierraclub.org

San Francisco Chapter has joined the Utah chapter in solidarity calling for a stronger statement! Sierra Club has threatened to disband the Utah chapter for
becoming involved in anti-war actions. Articles about this have appeared in
the San Francicso Chronicle and LA Times.

Subject: Urgent Environmental Issue
The United States plans on using billions of gallons of oil to fight a war on
Iraq. They plan on dropping bombs that will devastate ecosystems and encourage
Iraqis to burn their oil as they did ten years ago. I think it is an outrage
that the Sierra Club has silenced members who spoke out against the war, and
believe that the organization should take a leading role in opposing the war
for both human and environmental reasons. I will actively boycott the Sierra
Club and encourage others to do the same until I hear that their position on
the war has changed.
