Educators Scream at Plan for $2 Billion Cut But Zionists Simply Ask for $14 Billion

by Stop the madness
In today's Chronicle (Dec. 5), the headline was "Educators scream at plan for cuts" and "Davis may take $1.9 billion from schools to help close $21 billion shortfall." But there still has been no article about the $14 Billion in additional aid that Israelis are asking for right now from our US leaders, and watch--- they WILL get it.
It's the campaign contributions, stupid! Just in case anyone was wondering why the Zionist Jewish Israelis get their way with our leaders, it's thanks to their American Jewish Zionists cohorts who are always so busy at the PACs (Political Action Committees) drumming up money for the politicians who will kowtow to the Zionist agenda and thinking up ways in "think-tanks" like JINSA on how to manipulate US foreign policy to their liking.

Poor overworked educators barely have enough money to buy goodies at Trader Vics never mind drum up thousands of dollars for their "special interests". They also barely have enough energy to correct the homework from their over-sized classes to organize on the level of the Zionists.

The same with the average American... simply not enough time or money. But somehow the Zionist elite seem to have plenty of both.

Our only hope is campaign reform (http://www.fairelections.us) and massive rallies, etc. Stop the madness!
by Our Priorities

Does anyone think that Letters to the Editor about financial priorities are worth the time? (Maybe 15 minutes to one hour depending on how much you have to say and how quick a writer you are?).
My understanding is that if newspapers receive several letters on the same topic, they're likely to print at least one of the letters. With IndyMedia, we're "preaching to the converted" -- somehow we have to get more and more "average folks" to start agreeing with us on issues.
I am outraged that (over the past 10 to 20 years) the super-rich in this country keep getting wealthier and wealthier while basic needs like education and health care deteriorate for the vast majority of the population! We must find a way to empower people to stand up for the basic necessities which everyone needs -- for justice!
Maybe getting a dozen people or so to start sending in letters to the editor would be a start. What do people think?

If you want to start something, count me in. I often send letters (my last one printed pointed out the numbers killed in Afganistan from the bombings and Chron deleted my citation to the author) but get disillusioned a lot of the time.

I've found it can be extremely effective to have a group in which someone (or everyone) who simply forwards articles, writes a commentary with supportive facts or reasons, and then includes the emails of the author and editor, making it easy. This could be done once a week, at least, and with a sizable group, could be effective.
by I take my own advice
You can start your own group without too much trouble, really, and I highly recommend it. Our group is Americans for Justice in Palestine-Israel, lobbying for the secular, one-state solution of Palestine-Israel, with equal rights for all regardless of religion, race or sex, including all the Palestinian refugees whose right it is to return to their ancestral homeland in Palestine-Israel, according to UN Resolutions, international law and world opinion. This is our mission but you may want to focus on another aspect of war / racism. But we're in the East Bay, and we only meet about once a month. Some of the things our members do are:
• leafletting (leaving a little sheet of paper under windshield wipers with info on it like websites, for instance this one with the article "The Cost of Israel to the American People", which is excellent, at: http://alhewar.com/Curtiss.html
• set up a table at the local farmer's market that has literature you can give away with a donation jar ; a great little booklet to sell is "The Origin of the Palestine-Israel Conflict" which you can buy for only $1 ea plus something for postage and send to Jews for Justice in the Middle East, PO Box 14561, Berkeley, CA 94712. It's also at the website in PDF format at http://www.cactus48.com You'd be surprised at how many people are interested and thank you for doing this. Also we have a petition that people can sign that calls for an end to US aid to Israel until it becomes a true democracy with equal rights for all regardless of religion, race or sex, including all the 5 million Palestinian refugees. After you get a certain amount of signatures and addresses, you can make copies and send them to all the politicians you can. You can also have a list for people to write their e-mail addresses so you can let them know of meetings and events and forward pertinent articles to them.
• reserve a room at your local library for free to have meetings to brainstorm, network, share info and watch videos about the topic
• some members even go to Palestine-Israel to be "human sheilds" to protect the Palestinians.
•organize your own list of media contacts' e-mails to forward articles that you receive from other members or foreign newspapers that reveal news not seen in our mainstream media

Good luck! For more info: americansforjustice [at] earthlink.net
