WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush (news - web sites) signed legislation Monday creating a new Department of Homeland Security devoted to preventing domestic terror attacks. He promised it "will focus the full resources of the American government on the safety of the American people."

The president picked Tom Ridge as the department's first secretary.

Bush's signature launched the most sweeping federal reorganization since the Defense Department's birth in 1947, a process that his spokesman said could take up to two years to complete.

Reichstag fire, burning of the Reichstag (parliament) building in Berlin, on the night of Feb. 27, 1933, a key event in the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship and widely believed to have been contrived by the newly formed Nazi government itself to turn public opinion against its opponents and to assume emergency powers. Hitler had secured the chancellorship after the elections of November 1932, but his Nazi Party had not won an overall majority. He therefore obtained Cabinet consent to fix new elections for March 5, 1933. Meanwhile, his propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, is supposed to have devised the scheme whereby 10 agents led by Karl Ernst were to gain access to the Reichstag through a tunnel leading from the official residence of Hermann Goring, Reichstag president and Hitler's chief minister, who was then to conduct an official investigation, which would fix responsibility for the fire on the Communists. The supposed arsonist was a Dutchman, Marinus van der Lubbe, whom some have claimed was brought to the scene of the crime by Nazi agents. Others have contended that there was no proof of Nazi complicity in the crime, but that Hitler merely capitalized on van der Lubbe's independent act. The fire is the subject of continued debate and research.
On Feb. 28, 1933, the day after the fire, Hitler's dictatorship began with the enactment of a decree "for the Protection of the People and the State," which dispensed with all constitutional protection of political, personal, and property rights. Though the ensuing elections still did not give the Nazis an outright majority, they were able to persuade the Reichstag to pass an Enabling Act (March 23) whereby all its legislative powers were transferred to the Reich Cabinet by a vote of 444 to 94, so sanctioning the dictatorship. A feature of the ensuing arson trial, at which van der Lubbe was convicted, was the acquittal of the Bulgarian Communist Georgi Dimitrov after a strong defense.
..

Hitler was elected. Bush was installed by the Supreme Court after their rigged election fell apart.
Hitler's people had the Reichstag burned. Bush's people allowed 9/11 to occur.
Hitler blamed the Communists. Bush blamed the Terrorists.
Hitler enacted a decree "for the Protection of the People and the State," which dispensed with all constitutional protection of political, personal, and property rights. Bush signed the USA Patriot Act, doing the same thing.
Hitler wrote the Enabling Act, reorganizing the German govt so that all legislative powers were concentrated under the Reich Cabinet.
Bush wrote the Homeland Security Act, reorganizing the US govt's law enforcement, military, and domestic and foreign spying under a new White House office.

Hitler, now undisputable legal dictator of Germany, began all-out tyranny of his own people while invading other countries.

Bush, now undisputable head of all military, police, law enforcement, judicial, and surveillance powers in the US, has already invaded Afghanistan is about to invade Iraq, has declared that 250,000 Natl Guard will be deployed here at home to "maintain security", has forcibly installed federal employees at all airport security positions, has passed the Model Health Powers Act allowing citizens to be quarantined in concentration camps for refusing to take govt-mandated "emergency" vaccines, has begun building the Total Information Awareness supercomputer to database everything about everyone, has granted the CIA and NSA to spy on US citizens at home, has granted the FBI and police everywhere permission to search and "confiscate" with or without warrants, with or without victim knowledge, and even to punish victims who disobey police orders to keep such searches and seizures secret.

We are so fucked.

Bush's $396 Billion Military Budget:

"Leave No Defense Contractor Behind"

by William D. Hartung, Senior Fellow, World Policy Institute

It may seem like eons ago now, but if you search deep in your memory banks you may remember that George W. Bush campaigned for president as a Pentagon reformer who would cut back unnecessary Cold War weapons programs to make room for lighter, quicker more mobile systems. It's true that Bush mentioned the word "missile defense" at every available opportunity and spoke disparagingly about arms accords like the Anti-Ballistic Missile treaty, but when it came down to how much he would actually spend on the military, he pledged a modest $50 billion increase over ten years, about $5 billion per year.

Better keep that nose to the grindstone and keep making those big bucks, comrade. And tighten that belt some, you don't need luxuries when Uncle Sam needs your taxes in the War on Terror. You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists.

As the economy sinks further, the govt will use force to prop it up in every sector necessary. They already forcibly broke up the west coast port strike last month.

A new American ethic of employment == loyalty will soon rise. The unemployed will be drafted into the military to do "civil service" in "nationalized" factories, companies, and fields. Our massive and growing population of prisoners from the "war on drugs" will likewise be tapped for prison labor as a form of "community service".

A century from now historians will be fascinated by this point in American history, and political radicals will be asking "Why didn't the people DO something?" while they look at pictures of atomic bomb craters in LA, the gutted shells of NYC high rises, and the Nazi-esque mass graves of San Francisco after American-scientist engineered bioweapons killed millions of those Godless disloyal unAmerica liberals.

We are the essence, the living incarnation, the very icon of fucked.

I don't like Bush. Trust me I don't.

But he's no Hitler. He's not smart enough. He's really just shameless and very, very lucky.

Comparing Bush to Hitler is a fucking joke, and I don't know why you felt the need to do that. I think I want to start a blog dedicated criticizing extremism.

Bush and Cheney: Who Said Mud Sticks?

Sunday, December 01 2002 @ 04:23 PM GMT

"What saved him was the tragedy of Sept. 11. Rightly, the terrorist attacks eclipsed all other news .."

By Rupert Cornwell

It is one of the smaller but most telling mysteries of the past convulsive year for corporate and political America.

How is it both George Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney have escaped serious damage from revelations about their business past and their links with the oil and energy industry, not least Enron? Doubters of that proposition have only to cast their minds back to the previous occupant of the White House.

For four years, Bill Clinton was on the rack over the Whitewater affair. No matter that it was an obscure failed land deal in rural Arkansas in which the 42nd president lost money. The press, and Clinton’s Republican opponents, would not let go.

Consider now Messrs Bush and Cheney. In 1990 (a comparatively more recent episode in Bush’s career than the 1978 Whitewater deal was in Clinton’s when he ran for president in 1992), George W, Bush, the president’s son, sold shares in the Harken oil company, of which he was a director, for $848,000 (£547,000). The circumstances reeked of insider trading, coming just before Harken released some dismal figures that sent its shares reeling.

Later in the 1990s Cheney served as chairman of Halliburton, the Texas-based oil services company. While he was in charge, it engaged in some aggressive accounting (to put it mildly) under its then auditor Andersen, for whom Cheney actually featured in a commercial, extolling Andersen’s “go the extra mile” accounting skills.

Those dubious skills would lead to the collapse of Andersen’s client Enron, and the criminal conviction of Andersen itself. Cheney, meanwhile, walked away from Halliburton with a $20 million payoff when he joined Bush on the 2000 Republican ticket.

But the Enron link did not end there. Its chairman, Kenneth Lay, was a personal friend of Bush, known to the president as “Kenny Boy”, and his company was a lavish financial backer. Lay and other senior Enron colleagues were closely involved in the White House energy plan drawn up in 2001 under Cheney’s chairmanship, deliberations about which the vice-president has refused to make public.

But has there been a Clinton-style investigation into his successors? Not a bit of it. “There’s no ‘there’ there,” say Bush’s defenders, claiming that the SEC had probed the 1990 deal and found no proof of impropriety. But the very same phrase was used by the Clinton camp a decade ago — and small good it did them.

One difference today is the demise of the independent counsel, the institution that tormented Clinton. Even so, all other things being equal, it is hard to imagine Bush escaping a similar ordeal had Congress appointed a special prosecutor. True, Bush had smartly distanced himself from Enron, and called for stiff punishment for Enron and other corporations involved in the recent financial scandals. But that alone might not have been enough, given the president’s own business background.

What saved him was the tragedy of Sept. 11. Rightly, the terrorist attacks eclipsed all other news.

America was in no mood to have its president’s attention distracted by controversy over past business dealings, least of all when he was generally agreed to be a highly effective leader in the campaign against the terrorists. That may change — but not without powerful new evidence. Bill Clinton can only look on with envy. (The Independent)

It has come to my attention the individual writing this "story" has no knowledge of what he/she is talking about. The Clinton crisis is the largest breach in National Security this Country has ever seen. He literally allowed these terrorists to take full advantage, of our courteous, education system for 8 full years. Free raigne to come and go, at will. Mrs. Hilary Clinton, With all that Blood on her hands. Guilty of Murder in the second degree, got away with it. You heard of her finger prints on the very documents she never saw. Not to mention, her very deliberate intentions. Lost money in Whitewater? OH PLEASE!!!! Check out all the accounts the money went to. The very sly way she manipulated Bill's infadelity. Used it to her very own advantage, masquerading as a understanding wife, all the while photographed in the White House pool with her own female lover. In the act. Took the hearts of America to earn her own position in the political arena. Bill campaigned for his second election, using Hillary, to cover her from going to court, did you know while in the White House, she could not stand trial, why do you think he served the second term. YOU even forgot what she did during the second 4yrs. Then, all was forgotten and she never did stand trial. How about his aquittals? How about the Countries that did not want Bush in office. They wanted to continue to play the yellow bellied Democrats. How did Clinton ever get into office to begin with, ran from the draft and real service of his Country. Could not even honor an oath of his own household. Much less the oath to his Country. He should be in prison for life for high treason. Not running around getting extremely wealthy off of your and many others ignorance. It is so sickening. These Democrats need to quit whining. They lost already. But, isn't that what they do best, manipulate the constitution, for special interest groups and make excuses, for misguided descisions, and fully support any immoral act know to society today. Do you honestly think, one who could vote to stick a sharp pair of scissors into the neck of an unsedated 9mo. old infant, to snip its spinal cord, to make the murder legal, care anything for your well being? You tell me. If that woman carried to 9mo. of pregnancy, her life is no longer in danger. Delivery is then an option for c-section. You should read the letter of the abortion doctor who attempted to do a surgery on the heart of a infant in the womb. While the baby grabbed his finger before being sedated. You was one of those infants, you wouldn't have the freedom to be able to voice your very uneducated opinion at this time, had you been subjected to the ideals of these sick individuals. Is that what you call freedom. Clinton allowed all the things we are experiencing now, Now someone has to come in and clean up the mess. Shame on you.

"As the Bush administration draws up plans to simplify the tax system, it is also refining arguments for why it may be necessary to shift more of the tax load onto lower-income workers."
