Weapons Inspections at Livermore Labs on Vets Day
In celebration of Veteran's Day, veterans and others demanded to inspect for weapons of mass destruction at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory -- the UC managed facility where American nuclear (and biological?) weapons are designed & tested.
Over 100 activists gathered on Veteran's Day at the West Gate to inform the authorities at Livermore that civilian weapons inspectors have the right to know what kind of activities (especially as relate to weapons of mass destruction) are taking place in their heavily-guarded nuclear bomb factory.
Participants came from such organizations as Tri Valley Cares, California Peace Action, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz (probably the biggest delegation in attendance), USF, Veterans for Peace, and numerous others (sorry I didn't make a list, I'm remembering off the top of my head).
