SF: High Voter Turnout Slows Count

by Tenant Voter
A higher than expected voter turnout has slowed the count. Insufficient cards were delivered to some polling places and are being delivered. Those who were in line before 8 p.m. are being allowed to vote. After they vote, San Francisco results will start to change.
A higher than expected voter turnout has slowed the count. Insufficient cards were delivered to some polling places and are being delivered. Those who were in line before 8 p.m. are being allowed to vote. After they vote, San Francisco results will start to change.

San Francisco results are best viewed at:
http://www.sfgov.org/election/results1102/results.htm

As of 8:01 p.m., with 35,203 votes counted, the absentees, which are always more conservative than the final count, show Prop R, the Repeal of Rent Control being defeated with 55% voting No. This looks very good for tenants.

Pete Camejo, the Green candidate for governor, has 9% of the vote, and that percentage can only increase. Do not assume, however, that San Francisco in any way represents the rest of California when it comes to voting for governor. It is however, extraordinary, that a Green Party candidate for governor would win 9% of the most conservative group of voters.

The rest of the ballot of interest to the workingclass begs for the workingclass vote to arrive, but we are patient.
