pics from the shu
some some images of the last several days of the shu protest and vigil. it goes on til tuesday night midnight at powell and market. please come!
view from inside the shu box. comrades have done 24 hours vigils inside this cell. a pretty tough shift, but nothing compared to the real thing. quetza's son jose luis has been in the SHU 3 years.
quetza was the first person inside the shu program.
here is a man looking in to verify that indeed a person is inside there. we installed a window on night 2 to make this easier. the dehumanizing act of looking at another human being inside a box helps to drive home the dehumanizing act living in a society which uses torture to destroy people organizing for basic rights and to terrorize others away from doing the same.
here are comrades who came out with the african people's socialist party. it was about 6:00 on saturday. there are a lot of africans on the street and a majority of them speak of firsthand experience with the shu or having done time in prison.
