Gay Shame Marchs Against Newsom's Prop N in the Marina District
by Z
Friday Oct 25th, 2002 11:35 PM
Around 6PM on Friday October 25th about 300 protesters ( organized by the group Gay Shame)gathered in the Marina district to protest Gavin Newsom and proposition N (which takes money away from the homeless and is being used by Newsom to drum up support from the business community for a run for mayor in 2003)
letthemeatcake2.jpg
"Care not Cash"/Prop N is a disgusting and offensive proposition being pushed by the notoriously anti-homeless Supervisor Gavin Newsom. "Care not Cash" would slash GA workers' benefits from $395/month to a pitiful $59/month while guaranteeing absolutely NO new services to people who are poor and homeless in San Francisco. This would decrease GA workers' pay to less than $2.00 an hour while they are expected to continue playing an exhaustive game of trying to find decent, affordable housing and services in a city where they simply do not exist. This is simply a bullshit scheme being supported by wealthy business people and corporations in San Francisco that is being used to criminalize people who are poor and homeless. It's time that rich San Franciscans stop viewing themselves as victims of homelessness. The problem with homelessness is not that the wealthy have to see people sleeping outside and be asked ! for money while walking down the street. The problem is that people are not being offered the decent housing, services, treatment, and respect that they need and deserve.

Maybe people should give them a call and tell them that this could hurt their brand image internationally. How many European kids who buy Vespas would support Vespa backing a fascist like Newsom?

This is one of several Newsom owned stores. While the ones in the Marina tend to sell overpriced swill he also has cheaper stores that are advertised as selling affordable wine (to help create more alcoholics who will end up on the street)
§Wine Classes?

Aside from beating up on homeless people Newsom has another goal in life, to teach the world to be a stuckup snob like himself.

To help with this goal he offers classes, the first of which falls slightly under the cost of a full month GA check if N passes.

"Want to learn to sniff, swirl, sip and spit? Learn how to 'talk the talk' and 'walk the walk'. After you graduate from this class your friends will impressively refer to you as a connoisseur. From buttery Chardonays to tannic Cabernets, you'll taste what the experience is all about"

Isn't being a stuckup rich kid grand?

Without rich kids who have never had to work a real job, we wouldnt have PlumpJack Cafe, or the Matrix (named after Frank Jordon's failed program of harassing poor people). We wouldnt have PlumpJack wines or Newsom's business in Tahoe. But most importantly we wouldnt have Newsom running our city and getting endorsed for mayor my Brown and the Republican Party. And as we all know, a world without Newsom would be a MUCH better world.
§A Sign For Newsom in Pacific Heights

One more sign that money does slowly rob one of ones soul. One wonders if a person living way up in Pacific Heights has ever even seen a homeless person. What is their motivation for wanting to hurt homeless people? Is it guilt or have rich San Franciscans just become evil?
