Hate Starts At Home: SF liberals teach their kids to hate the poor at a young age...
The only thing more depressing about the Newsom-Feinstein rally than the open Republicans were the lefty looking families that brought their children to hear proWar antiPoor messages of hate.
Taking money from the homeless is about as morally corrupt a concept as one can find. Rich liberals are tired of feeling sorry for the poor so instead of helping people make ends meet or deal with substance or mental health problems, they just try to sweep the problem under the carpet. But the problems they are sweeping under the carpet are human lives...
The only thing more disgusting than hatred for the less fortunate is teaching this hatred to ones kids at THIS young an age.
Note in the second and third photographs how the parents look like they are under attack and are shielding their children from some danger. In this case that danger is a small crowd with signs chanting (not even that loud) 'no war and no on prop N'. Are the parents afraid that compassion might rub off on their children? Are they afraid that by hearing the chants their children might grow up to question Bush and his cronies? Or are they just full of an irrational fear that also explains their stand on Iraq and the homeless?

OK so I figured that a Feinstein rally would be misguided liberals voting conservative, but apparently after looking up many of the candidates at the event, many are actual REPUBLICANS!!!
Feinstein doesnt just act like a Republican she actively endorses them and helps get them into office.
For example:
Gail E. Neira
Member, 13th Assembly District
Candidate, 13th State Assembly District
Was elected as a Republican and is running as a Republican, but her signs were all over the Feinstein Newsom rally.
OK most on the left will think this is a worthless thing to expose since we know there is one political party in the US, but its good to have some visual proof for those conservative Democrats who dont realize how far they have truely fallen by supporting Feinstein.

These are regular voters, those who make over $100,000 per year, and are common to both capitalist parties, the Democrat and Republican Parties. There is nothing lefty or liberal about them and they certainly do not look lefty or liberal. They look filthy rich and their children look extremely pampered, as the children of the rich always are. The rich fear the workingclass as they know their wealth is based on the exploitation of the workingclass and that is why they cringe.
I am glad people showed up at this rally to protest but no one should have been surprised at who attended this rally or their reaction to the protest.
It would have been more interesting and newsworthy to tell us where and when this rally was held, how many showed up, what did Feinstein and Newsom have to say, and what did any other speaker have to say?
As to winning the campaign against Prop N, that takes precinct walking and phone banking. The problem we have is that the workingclass does not vote regularly so we must push our voters to the polls. Every precinct we walk, we win and the phone banking helps push our voters to the polls. Please spend as much time as you can doing precinct walking and phone banking. See the No on N website for information on these activities, at:

Glad to see someone's already picked apart the "lefty-looking" comments from the original article, but let's take it one step farther and disregard their appearance altogether. It seems to me that actions are what's important, and their attendance at this rally says much more about them than their clothes.

Please, don't hate us because we are beautiful.
Just because we are RICH, WHITE, AND BEAUTIFUL (and you are NOT) doesn't give you a right to be jealous of us.
Maybe if you get a job (like working at Mcdonald's), you can be RICH like us someday. NOT!
p.s. Did I mention I have a Lexus?

i think the point is that these people are democratic-leaning people ... not republicans... as it says, it doesnt expect anti-capitalists to be surprised but there is a strong democratic machine happening in san francisco and some of those people must feel like they are on the right side or something
I openly disagree witht he parents who would hold the ears of their childen who are around 1 yr, 2yrs and 6 months old so they could not hear the small protests against Feinstein, war and Prop N. Can't they fathom the psychological damage they are causing these children.
I have found it to be much better to use these occations to teach moral lessons to my children. I say, "See these people over there, they are protesters. These people though are what as know as misguided protesters. In their own belief they are doing that which is good, they are actually very, very evil. Someday in order to preserve the freedoms were have in this country we may have to round up these people, put them up against a wall and shoot them. That'll make it all better."

Newsom, its great to see you know how to use the internet, but your facism is starting to bubble a little too close to the surface for you to ever gain power around here. Ive heard there is a dictatorship opening in Iraq...
Actually I was being as ridiculous one way as the original poster was the other. Had these parents have brought their children with them to participate in the protest, the original poster would have noted the "bravery" of these parents, how that they brought their children along to show them all about "love and compassion", and how that they needed to cover the eyes and ears of these infants to protect them from the "hatemongers."
I did not go to this rally, but your comments are great. Its my opinion that anyone who considers Dianne Feinstein to be "liberal" is seriously deluding themselves. Yes, these folks with their kids seem pretty inconvenienced by the voices and shouts of reason (evil protestors!), but my question for them is: why did you bother bringing your children? They probably thought they were being very groovy, hip parents -"look, we are SOOO open-minded!" Ha! When I have occasionally brought my 5 year-old to rallies, I let her see and hear everything, because that is the whole point, isn't?
It's not just San Francisco that's being taken over by fascists these days-the ENTIRE STATE is being subjugated!
The situation is(predictably) even worse in L.A. and San Diego, especially(no surprise here!) in Orange County. In addition to the homeless and other disenfranchised, they sit there and bash Mexican "immigrants" and other(real) international immigrants for all our problems when so many of these fascists themselves immigrated over here from the U.S. east coast, midwest, and especially, the south.
If there has EVER been a time for Cali to kick these nazi scumballs out and go its own way, it's NOW! An independent California can be (if we organize and work together) :
1. A trully Democratic society with either;
A. A Democratic government with proportional representation guided by a Constitution based upon all of the provisions of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, OR;
B. A "free state" with direct democracy (made possible by the internet and other communications technology) with no formal "government".
2. As the fifth largest economy in the world, an opportunity to throw off the shackles of capitalism and convert it to a world class Democratic Economy (everyone an equal partner/owner of industries-and not for profit)independent of NAFTA and the WTO with the ability to forge FAIR TRADE agreements with nations around the world and establish our own membership in the United Nations(perhaps within the Security Council?)
The possibilities are endless!
Impossible! -the fascist scum will decree! You are assimilated-resistance is futile!
We are if we continue to sit and do nothing; OR, we can do like they're doing in Hawaii and start ORGANIZING!:

Why in the hell are we letting these rich fascist scumbags breed out of control? Don't they have anything better to do than churn out kid after kid?
Go for it! The Confederacy tried it in the 1860's and didn't that work out just dandy.
Actually the kids on this page look pretty cute. It's people like anti-fascist that, if one could turn back the hands of time, it would be great to go up to his Dad a year or two before anti-fascist was conceived, draw back with your leg as far as you could, and kick his old man square in the nuts. By the way anti-fascist, do us all a favor and don't reproduce.

The people who posted this article whine about how SF Liberals are no different from Conservatives.
NO shit, sherlock.
Liberals HAVE ALWAYS BEEN nothing more than a Conservative in Sheep's clothing.
UNlike the Right Wingers who are openly fascists, these Liberal Fascists hide behind alot of rhetoric about diversity, Human rights, and enviromentalism.
Worse yet, you people act all shocked and hurt that the Democratic Party is not really a "progressive" party.
Well, no shit. Tell us something we didn't know already.

Mira hombre, las problemas con Argentina fueron creados para el FMI -- es una problema de capitalismo!
Look, the problems with Argentina were created by the IMF - it is a problem of capitalism.
But that's ok. Really. Just try to bring your right-wing giulianist fascism to San Francisco. It will be really great to see all the old anti-capitalists revive themselves for one more really great fascist ass kicking.

Argentina was messed up long before the IMF got involved. (I suggest you check out V.S. Naipul's articles about Argentina's decline, recently published in "The Writer and the World".) But you don't need a historical memory. You can blame everything on capitalism! How easy for you! You needn't trouble your pea-brain with facts, or any sort of complexity whatsoever! It's the fascist capitalists fault!
Idiot.
Idiot.
There is nothing compassionate about letting sick people lie on sidewalks. A civilized society will rescue these troubled souls. Many are severly mentally ill. Go talk to them. I live on market and have saved two or three myself. Most are not savable. Most need much more than a few bucks or kind advice from someone like me. They should not be allowed to suffer at our feet. The current policy continues the suffering. Sorry if this pops your bubble.

No one wants to see homeless die on the streets, but Prop N is a pack of lies.
Have you read the lies? If you haven't, you really don't know what you're talking about if you are saying you support prop N.
Do we live in a compassionate society? Well, we can start by replacing the position of the almighty dollar with almost anything else, and that's a start.

Los muchachos peronistas
todos unidos triunfaremos,
y como siempre daremos
un grito de corazón:
¡Viva Perón! ¡Viva Perón!
Por ese gran argentino
que se supo conquistar
a la gran masa del pueblo
combatiendo al capital.
¡Perón, Perón, qué grande sos!
¡Mi general, cuanto valés!
¡Perón, Perón, gran conductor,
sos el primer trabajador!
Por los principios sociales
que Perón ha establecido,
el pueblo entero esta unido
y grita de corazón:
¡Viva Perón! ¡Viva Perón!
Por ese gran argentino
que trabajó sin cesar,
para que reine en el pueblo
el amor y la igualdad.
¡Perón, Perón, qué grande sos!

Imitemos el ejemplo
de este varón argentino,
y siguiendo su camino
gritemos de corazón:
¡Viva Perón! ¡Viva Perón!
Por esa Argentina grande
con que San Martín soñó,
es la realidad y la efectiva
que debemos a Perón.

They are people we often ignore and avoid. They wander the streets, take shelter under bridges and sleep in parks. What is it like to be mentally ill and homeless on the streets of San Francisco? What about family members who are desperately trying to reconnect with their loved ones? According to the California Department of Mental Health, an estimated 50,000 mentally ill people in California sleep on the street each night, and thousands more go to jail or are hospitalized. The city of San Francisco estimates that 70 percent of its homeless residents are mentally ill or substance abusers -- or both
Hope on the Street looks at the lives of people who have spent time on the streets while living with their mental illness. The one-hour documentary focuses on hope and recovery as it looks beneath the tattered clothes, the dirt, the grime to reveal individuals who have an illness and who deserve respect, patience and understanding.
Premiering Friday, October 4, at 9pm on KQED Public Television 9 and airing on public television stations around the state (check local listings), Bay Window: Hope on the Street includes four heart-wrenching personal stories, of people who are in need of help and of people who are on their way to recovery. The stories also bring in family members as well as local outreach workers who are helping this underserved and often-overlooked segment of our population.
During this compelling hour, we meet
• Sandra, whose family in Mississippi has been trying to find her for more than 15 years. As the family dreams of the awaited reunion, Sandra has a setback in her recovery and now denies she left a family behind.
• Richard, also known as Circle Man because of his tendency to walk around in circles on the same block in San Francisco. Richard is an elderly veteran and former chemist who has the financial means and family support to leave the streets, but has been cycling in and out of homelessness, hospitals and jails for more than 20 years.
• Ray, who describes his as a story against all odds. He survived an abusive childhood and a homeless adolescence in which the only life he knew was gang life. In addition, he constantly struggles with a bipolar disorder. Ray overcame his illness with the support of his family and proper treatment and is now an outreach worker and speaker at mental health conferences across the country.
• J.J., who suffers from schizophrenia and was homeless for five years. His is a touching story of the importance of treatment and friendship. A man, who is now not only his boss but also his best friend, helped J.J. gain a new lease on life simply by taking a chance on him.
Hope on the Street offers proof that if society helps the mentally ill and homeless gain access to quality services, many of them will seize the opportunity to live productive and healthy lives.

Having recently escaped from the downward homeless spiral in San Francisco, being at an advantage myself that I know most folks on the streets do not have, this is close to my heart.
I am horrified by the 'prop n' thing, but it is only a tip in the iceberg of the horrors inflicted upon people from a heartless society of 'have its' who think they deserve what they have, and somehow in their 'godly' or 'christian' view of the world do not think the 'have nots' deserve.
Everyone deserves a place to find shelter, food, water, and a TOILET! I am seriously shocked that there are not even toilet facilities unless you eat in restaurants, which homeless folks obviously cannot do, except the very few 'pay a quarter' shit-holes that don't even have water to wash your hands, even for tourists! There is nothing more de-humanising than ending up accidentally shitting in your pants, like happened to me, because you have to go hours and hours, day after day, week after week, without being able to go to the toilet, and your whole system gets all messed up.
My heart so goes out to the thousands of homeless who aren't as lucky as me because there is no escape for them from the indignity and pain and suffering. I aspire to return someday myself and find some way to work against this criminal neglect and abuse, for indeed, I fell in love with San Francisco.

Umm, if California were to become a socialist utopia like the one you describe, I can guarantee you that it'd go from 5th largest economy to 3rd world country within a year. Do you really think that single company, big or small, would want to do business in a place that seizes all profits and redistributes wealth to the masses? Do you think that any bank would want to lend money to such a business or government?
A case could be made that socialism could work as a world-wide system. But unless you think that California can be totally self-sufficient (Which is theorectically possible, though California's economy is FAR from self-sufficient at the present), your view is simply ignorant of macroeconomic reality. And I haven't even mentioned the massive change in human nature that would need to take place in order for communitarian utopianism to thrive in an independent California.
In other words, get your head out of your ass and start fighting for things that are achieveable in the next 100 years.

California is so screwed up. We're talking about the state that elected Jerry Brown Governor. Geez!
What do you do about the homeless problem in San Francisco? They've had a population explosion. Big problem. No one wants to be hassled by pan handlers. What to do, what to do??
My first thought is to arrest them, take them out to the edge of town, drop them off, and tell them "Never ever come back."
My second thought is more practical. Arrest them. Drive them up to Mill Valley, and let them out. Mill Valley is a caring ultra-liberal community. They give a sh_t what happens to these losers. Let's give them the opportunity to show their compassion by dumping San Francisco's homeless on their doorstep.
Seems a valid test of their liberal resolve. Let's do it! Solve San Francisco's homeless problem and give the liberal in Mill Valley an opportunity to show that 'they care.'
Sounds like a win-win deal to me.

California *is* definately screwed up. Where else would you find all the influential members of the Republican party worshipping owl gods and sacrificing children?

The flagrant human rights violations that have accompanied the French Quarter Clean-Up in New Orleans has taught me that anti-homeless initiatives are invariably racist and classist police directed crime waves against the poor. The ace in the whole of any so-called "crackdown" on the homeless is the suseptibility of the poor to frameups on misdemeanor charges. The cops know this. The politicians know this. And so does the yuppie scum that is forever attempting to purge the poor from the public spaces of America. It's time for a crackdown on the criminals who trample on the human rights of the poor in public spaces. Jail the politicians, the cops and the yuppies who kidnap the poor in public spaces on trumped up charges! Of course, it's essential that progressives organize and mobilize in defense everyone's right to access public spaces. We've enjoyed considerable success in doing just this in New Orleans.
As for proposition N, it's obviously another attempt by the rich to rob the poor. Vote against it. Just as important, mobilize against N on the streets.

As for proposition N, it's obviously another attempt by the rich to rob the poor. Vote against it. Just as important, mobilize against N on the streets.

"The flagrant human rights violations that have accompanied the French Quarter Clean-Up in New Orleans has taught me that anti-homeless initiatives are invariably racist and classist police directed crime waves against the poor. "
Do you San Franciscans realize that it takes about $400-$600 a month to live decently in New Orleans? That includes rent, food, clothing. Even a minimum wage salary gets you a place to live and food in your stomach (unlike in SF).
Oh, and by the way, there are many minimum wage jobs to go around in NOLA. They ain't glamorous, but they're there.
In other words, this is apples and oranges. In SF, it is possible to be a sober, decent human being with a job and be out on the street. In New Orleans, there is no excuse.

you guys are so boring...still acting as if reality has flung its doors open to you and you alone. what's that someone once said?: "anyone who spends a lifetime fighting an enemy has a real keen interest on making sure their enemy, Stays Alive!"
Your sanctimoniousness is perfectly shameless and deadly dull.
Why don't you admit the truth, that though there might be some merits to both the Right and Left, they are ultimately two Enlightenmet Ideologies that have long since outlived their usefullness. So then, why do you insist on continuing to engage in all this mud-slinging?
Simple...Because when it comes to the all important question of how we're all going to live together, you haven't come up with a single new idea, not one.
As if you are the only ones capable of caring....and you say they teach hate?
Everyone who disagrees with you is immediately accused of being a far right Bush supporter.....isn't it about time you gave up living in an either/or world? but then to do that you'd have to first....get over yourselves.
