Memorial/Demonstration for Anti-Homophobia
Recently, a fremont/newark boy who dressed as a women and identified as a women, went to a party and met four boy. they were flirting with her and when they found out he was really a boy, they beat her, strangled her, and burried her in the serria mountains. they are trying to get off all charges, including off hate crime charges (which is one 1-3 years in jail) and might get off bail was well.
This is about hate crimes and this is about ignorance. This is about how we need to do something about it, and how we need to educate people for the life of others. This needs to be made apparent to those who are capable of hurting, killing, or being abusive to another human being for being who they are.

This behavoir is unacceptable anywhere. Because it happed down a few streets from my house scares me to no end. we cannot have this be 'another murder' in time, but a situation to learn from and fight for.
Jorge has called a demonstration near Eddie Araujo's school on Friday Oct. 25th at 5 p.m. We would really appreciate it if you all could join this anti-hate, anti-homophobic 'protest'/demonstraton. We will be marching down Mowry Ave. towards the location of the memorial. If we leave this murder without pointing out the fact of homophobia in society, no one will learn.
From BART: I will pick up people at fremont bart at 4 pm. Its down one street, but bring your bike if you can. We will march from the bart station near Newark Memorial.

4 p.m. Oct. 25th (friday)..We are going to ride our bikes/walk down Mowry ave towards the memorial site. ]
From the freeway: take 880 north or south, get off at Mowry Ave.
North: get off at mowry ave, make a left, turn left into "Newpark mall" parking lot. Make a right, and then a slight left and drive towards the other end.
South:get off at mowry ave, make a right, turn left into "Newpark mall" parking lot. Make a right, and then a slight left and drive towards the other end.
It will be on the corner of Mowry and Alpsenross.

I think it's great you're organizing this memorial. It's too bad it's at a time when most people are at work.
One thing I have to point out is that Gwen wasn't murdered because of homophobia. She was murdered because of her gender identity. Gender identity and sexual orientation are two totally different things. People should understand that the hatred lies in that these people are not conforming with the gender that others impose on them. It's not about who they fuck, it's how they identify. I hope you can understand the difference because it is absolutely crucial in getting to the real causes of these crimes.
Gwen wasn't killed because she was gay. She was killed because, in those men's eyes, she was a "man trying to be a woman" and that to far too many, is the ultimate crime.
One thing I have to point out is that Gwen wasn't murdered because of homophobia. She was murdered because of her gender identity.
