One Violent Arrest At Federal Building today.

by Dan Mattson (handyman [at] california.com)
Federal Buliding, SF, 10/11/02. Overall cool heads prevailed at this CD/ rally. Less so at Larkin St entrance. 2:43 video of arrest.

Following the house of representatives vote to give bush authority to attack iraq, the federal building was occupied territory for about 16 hours. 25-30 people were arrested. Mostly at the Turk Street Entrance, arrests that were ritualized and conducted with dignity.

The main entrance's were heavily barricaded and with the Turk side a huge police presence, federal and sfpd.

The parking lot entrances were baricaded only by people. A line of protestors and about ten feet back a line of cops.

On the Larkin St side, protestors, duct taped themselves wrist to wrist across driveway.

"Security" seemed more agressive at this location.

Here is video of the arrest. More follows.

Wow, that stupid undercover cop even sports a Hitler moustache. Nice. I wonder if his family knows that he beats up elderly women during the day.

The Country looks to S.F./Berkeley to lead the Protest against this war. A heavy mantle of responsibility, but true. Where S.F./Berkeley leads, New York, Chicago, Austin, Madison, Ann Arbor, etc. etc. will follow. You guys are on the forefront of this war (against war). At this critical point in history, it's important to stay focused on the most pressing issue, which is IRAQ (everything else is IMPORTANT! but this WAR, which will not end, and will, perhaps, be the beginning of World WarIII is the most important issue right now).

Does anyone know if the woman arrested is willing to sue for a civil rights violation? I was there all morning and did not notice any violence from any demonstrators, not to mention she was not even close to the lead security who said he was kicked. He was soooo far out of line with her arrest and I thought I noticed him stirring up other things, something should really proceed from this. I am willing to help. Have some access to legal sources.

to stay WITH the lawsuits. They take months and months and lives have all sorts of changes, new bombs fall, new protests happen. And then it costs money.

But if you talk to this woman, remind her that people in Seattle who *did* stick with the lawsuits got between 20 and 30k apiece.

Bov,

You should know better than to broadcast the Left's scam out in the open.

We know you don't have any principles and that your real intentions have nothing to do with protesting, but to be so blantantly open about your real intentions is astonishing.

That's for helping my case against the Left, bov.
