KPFA Morning Show sucks

by keppler
I literally had to just shut it off.
They spend their show with someone analyzing religious texts, talking about angels and prophets - which as far as I'm concerned might as well be talking about Saturday morning cartoons - and when i finally heard this phrase: "What else could it possibly mean when a plane crashes into that tower except that 'my god is better than your god," I just had to turn it off completely.

Its sad to know they're wasting time in the morning on this.

They're glad to cover religious myths, but God forbid someone should have Ruppert on . . .

No doubt, there is much room for improvement. But they are better than any other "strong-signal" station in the Bay Area. We all need to support them and raise our voices to get them to be better.

I know all too well how insane some of the politics and infighting and probable sabotage has been over the last few years. Pacifica has been under attack from within and externally. And it's still not out of the woods. I listened to one of the interim board meetings back in Aug. and I was shocked with all the folks in the DC group laughing and making farting noises on a group conference call (I forget the name of the board member, but it's the guy in the DC group, the guy that owns or has owned 10 radio stations).

KPFA did let Guns & Butter and Ruppert on a few times. So, if that's your litmus test, you shouldn't chastise the network in full. Criticize? Yeah, I'm with you ... and voice your concerns directly to them in addition to places like indymedia.org.

Ten, maybe 20 people will see our message exchange. Tens of thousands are exposed to KPFA daily. We can't loose that. Reform is the only sane option.

I know that kpfa has had it's problems. but their is the local advisory board which you can make suggestions to. Also, after the morning show is over, give em a call. discuss your critiques with them in a meaningful way. food for thought

yes, there is a reason why Fox News has it's 'world news in 80 seconds' where it presents a number of trivial int'l stories with 7 seconds each. It is the same reason, that as a grader/teacher, I know that you have to break a lecture up into 5 minute segments so that the students don't tip over in their desks. KPFA tries to present a more mature version of the news for people with a developed attention span, but often their hourly topics aren't so rewarding - they focus on herbal remedies or philosophy or something.

If one reads the AVA newspaper from the northcoast one would gain the insight that in fact KPFA along with other similar norcal public radio stations practices the most blatant censorship in not allowing dissenting opinions to be expressed on the air. The biggest example that I know of is the Judi Bari bombing case where versions of events that challenge the official KPFA /friends of Judi Bari version will simply be ignored, censored, never aired, and the people that articulate these dissenting opinions are explicitly banned from the air. The biggest crock of shit I ever heard of, especially from these 'champions of free speech' BULLSHIT! These people appear to me to be a self-interested self-promoting fraternity of left posers. Fuck 'em, we can reach tens of thousands with another project. Any venue that cannot air opposing views, especially with all the fucked up gaps in their programming, including all the fucked up new age shit they air, does not deserve any respect. Stop giving them your money! They are totally closed off.
