War of Terror Against Mexican People
DEFEND LA RAZA AGAINST PRISON BRUTALITY!!

Press Conference at noon and Rally at 1pm, Wednesday, October 2, 2002

WHERE: Mexican Consulate, 532 Folsom Street, San Francisco

CONTACT:  Quetzaoceloacuia, Barrio Defense Committee(408) 885-9785

On Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 12 noon, the All People's Coalition to Stop US Terror and Occupation with the Barrio Defense Committee and other organizations are holding a press conference with a 1pm rally at the Mexican Consulate at 532 Folsom Street in San Francisco to expose the Mexican government's complicity with the brutality and genocide committed against la Raza. Almost half of the prison
population in California and Texas are Mexican. In California, most of the prisoners in the torture programs known as Security Housing Units (SHU) or as "control units" are African and Mexican.

States Quetzaoceloacuia of the Barrio Defense Committee and the All People's Coalition, "Why has the Mexican government remained silent?  Why are they not protesting before the world tribunals on the torture
units used against la Raza? It is shameful that the Vincente Fox government has sided with Bush's plans to bomb the people of Iraq!"

Continues Quetzaoceloacuia, "The answer is that the Mexican government has always sided with the US government's genocidal policies.  On Oct. 2nd, 1968, the then Pres. Diaz Ordaz ordered the murder of over 400 mostly youth at the Plaza de Tlatelolco in Mexico
City.  They were protesting the acute poverty and lack of social needs, but the Mex. govt. was concerned with red-carpetting Mexico City for the US-run world summer Olympic Games."

After Sept. 11th, Wakenhut Corporation, proposed 400,000 new beds for prisoners. The All People's Coalition to Stop US Terror and Occupation understands that the people in prison are not corporate
criminals, corrupt politicians, druglords or killer cops! In
addition, the people in the Security Housing Units are not killers, or child abusers, but prisoners who have spoken out against the prison brutality.

the BDC and the All Peoples Coalition Against US Terror and Occupation organized a demonstration in front of the San Francisco Mexican Consulate, to (1) protest Pres. Fox's govt supporting Bush's genocidal war to attack Irak; (2) to remind the world of the massacre in Tlatelolco in 1968; (3) to protest the torture SHUs and the complacency of the Mexican govt in defense of its people in these concentration camps; and (4) that the Mexican govt. must stop being a puppet of the U.S. govt.!

The results were that Ch 48 (telemundo) appeared and reported in the news very little about opposing Bush's war, emphasized the tragedy of the massacre without blaming the Mex and US govts.  reported a bit about the SHUs, the prisons and my son Jose Luis who is in the SHU.  The white left media KPFA announced it and gave a wrong date of the demo.   The Mex. reps arrogantly stated in the news they have no jurisdiction to defend Raza (born here) in prison.  the media vaguely showed that the Mex govt is supporting Bush's war yet does not support la Raza here!

Fortunately, one of the companeros from the All Peeps Coalition had posters showing Pres. Fox kissing Bush's ass and the media couldn't hide them!  Excellent work Matthew!

this demo was extremely important because la Raza is only getting pro-bush messages thru the media and very little opposition connected to la Raza.  It was important to show the world the terrorism la Raza is experiencing day in and day out in our own land.  Right now, la Raza is mad because Gov davis arrogantly refused the most important bill (driver's license).  the gov is also responsible for the prison building in Calif.  He was also the one who sent Jose Luis to the SHU as well as 6 others who were spokespeople in the 1999 New Folsom prison hunger strike.

Hopefully, Oct 19th will allow to expose Davis, democratic party, the prisons, and the SHUs.
