Attached is a copy of the ILWU cartoon titled "PMA's idea of Federal Mediation" which has been released by the ILWU local 10 leadership to the media for publication.
It depicts the PMA's (Pacific Maritime Association) negotiator Mr. Miniace holding a gun to the head of the ILWU, saying "Let's Talk!". As reported in the news tonight, Miniace came into the negotiation room with the ILWU negotiators and the federal mediator accompanied by two armed "body guards".
Not only are the PMA negotiators playing games in bad faith with the ILWU but they are also acting like gangsters. The truth is that the ILWU workers are trying to negotiate a fair and just contract (the old one ended July 1, 2002) and get back to work, while the PMA has locked them out and Pres. George W. Bush has threatened to call in troops to take over the dock work unless they give in to the unfair demands of the PMA.
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS FAR AND WIDE.
