On Sunday, September 15, 2002, more than 300 local residents, forest activists and environmentalists from throughout the region gathered to protest Maxxam/Pacific Lumber's illegal liquidation of the Mattole Forest. Speakers included local residents, Earth First activist Darryl Cherney, and marathon tree-sitters Remedy and Wren, along with a diverse array of local musicians.

For more information or to get involved in the campaign to save this precious forest call the Humboldt Forest Hotline at 707-825-6598, or email to savethemattole [at] yahoo.com.
