KEVIN EPPS, Filmmaker/Organizer director: Straight Outta Hunters Point.
Kevin was raised in Hunters Point and has survived life on the streets by emerging from his troubled youth with a driven focus on creative endeavors. He is co-organizing a travelling Hip Hop Film Fest and eager to inspire youths to follow their creative passions before it is too late. He believes he is the most broke ass mofo to ever speak at The Commonwealth Club.

DR. AHIMSA SUMCHAI, is a noted health expert and appears in Straight Outta Hunters Point. She is a Bayview Community Advocate; and was California State Legislature's Woman of the Year in 1990; She is also a m ember of Doctors for Social Responsibility

WILLIE RATCLIFF, Esteemed Editor of the SF Bay View Newspaper
Willie is unafraid to speak his mind and has long fought racism in the contracor industry. His latest editorial focus is on bank "redlining" which has devasted his neighborhood and diminished avaailable economic opportunities in the area.

JAMAL MODICA, Jamal is the first ever black Commissioner on the SF Board of Animal Care and Control Board. This fact is all the more remarkable due to his youthfulness and background. He founded the Tough House Pitbull Outreach Project , to advocate for responsible dog ownership in the local housing projects where merely owning a pet of any sort can get you evicted.

Panelists will explore the issues confronting San Francisco's Hunters Point neighborhood, with a particular emphasis on the lives of young people trapped in an unhealthy environment.

The panel will be moderated by Gaylon Logan, the Executive Director of Infusion One. Gaylon works with Bay View area youths in Academic Decathalons, featuring regular youth debates, speak outs, and ongoing after-school enrichment programs. He has developed his own educational curriculum called "Life Skills in Amerika." Based on his own 3 R's-Respect, Reality, and Responsibility. Gaylon came to Infusion One after years of self-reflection and plenty of difficulties. He wants to give youth the chance to "figure it out earlier in life than he did."
