On September 15th, hundreds of local residents, forest activists, students and environmentalists from throughout the region will hold a mass rally and legal demonstration to show community support for a halt to logging in the Mattole. Please join us for this urgent protest!

URGENT: MASS RALLY TO SAVE THE MATTOLE FOREST!

Sunday, September 15, 12:00 noon.

Monument Gate, Rio Dell exit off of HWY 101
(directions included below)

Join hundreds of peaceful protesters in demanding an end to the MAXXAM/Pacific Lumber Company's liquidation of our forests and destruction of the Mattole Watershed, located in southern Humboldt County, along California's northern coast.

This sensitive ecosystem includes thousands of acres of old growth Douglas Fir and a unique habitat for many threatened and endangered species, including the spotted owl, the red tree vole, the golden eagle, and coho salmon.

On September 15th, hundreds of local residents, forest activists, students and environmentalists from throughout the region will hold a mass rally and legal demonstration to show community support for a halt to logging in the Mattole.

Join us as we demand that MAXXAM/Pacific Lumber:

* Stop Clearcutting

* Stop Cutting Old Growth

* Stop Logging on Steep and Unstable Slopes

* Stop Spraying Herbicides

DIRECTIONS FROM HWY 101 NORTHBOUND:

* Take Rio Dell/Scotia exit.

* Follow signs to Rio Dell.

* Cross bridge and turn left onto Monument Rd.

* Go approx. 1/4 mi and turn left at 3-way stop to stay on Munument Rd.

* Go 5 1/2 mi up Monument Rd to parking area shortly before Monument Gate.

DIRECTIONS FROM HWY 101 SOUTHBOUND:

* Take Rio Dell exit.

* Stay in Rt lane on exit to stay straight on Wildwood Rd.

* Straight 1 mi on Wildwood.

* Rt onto Monument Rd.

* Go approx. 1/4 mi and turn left at 3-way stop to stay on Munument Rd.

* Go 5 1/2 mi up Monument Rd to parking area shortly before Monument Gate.
