Delta Dental Strike Update; Photos Needed
The clerical workers at Delta Dental insurance continue their boisterous picket at First and Mission Streets, San Francisco. We need photos on this website of this milestone labor struggle.

It is rare that workers in the private sector of clerical workers are union members, much less go on strike, but that is exactly what is happening in San Francisco, among clerical workers no less. At First and Mission Streets (the 500 block of Mission), across from the East Bay Transit Terminal, there is a boisterous picket line of workers, mostly women and mostly non-white, organized by the Teamsters Local 856, demanding decent hours, wages and working conditions from Delta Dental Insurance. They have rejected one offer, which included "voluntary" Saturday work. It is ridiculous that any clerical worker be asked to work Saturday and it would set a very bad precedent for all clerical workers.
The picketing Delta Dental workers are enjoying a constant symphony of horns from buses, trucks and hot rods passing by, but much more is needed. They need your presence and we all could use some photographs on this website of this picketline.
All you fabulous, Indymedia photographers, please go to First and Mission, San Francisco, whenever possible and take some photos for this website. I know for sure the picketline is on weekdays during the noon lunch hour. It is probably every weekday during regular business hours. They are being organized by Teamsters Local 856.
