It's a good thing the CHP was there to direct traffic around this clearly dangerous road hazard. You just have to wonder if there are any cooperative-minded, solution oriented, level-headed people left in the protest movement?
There are many tactics and many ways of making change. Its a good idea to get the word out there about whats going on and alert people who don't know or choose to ignore the problems. The solution to prevent making the community upset is to not clearcut, don't use herbisides, don't cut on steep slopes and stop cutting old growth. Maxscam Corporation shouldn't be allowed to destroy the ecosystem that is home to endangered species and a fabulous community.
The fact remains that Pacific Lumber Company is liquidating the forests and communities of Humboldt County. In December there were over 100 layoffs. There are clear signs that Maxxam plans to sell off the debt ridden Pacific Lumber Company to Plum Creek Inc. and make off with the assets that are hidden in Scopac. When Hurwitz took over PL, he split the company into three separate ones, putting the debt in one and the assets in another.
The workers are the ones that get shafted in the end and they should make all efforts necessary to unionize and stand up for themselves.
Life is dangerous; living in a polluted world is much more dangerous than locking down to a truck that is hauling off our children's future.

The true dangerous lies in the deception that locking a truck on a highway is meaningful. If anything, the environmental movement is harmed by reckless stunts that are tactically worthless. Worse, the self-adulation perpetuates an ever isolating spiral of radicalized protest; a voluntary and thoughtless segregation from the mainstream.
There is no "either-or" scenario here, only protesters stuck in singular mode of ineffective action.

The protest was a bust because it accomplished nothing but negetivity. First you block a highway in timber country. Everyone driving that road knows the issue, so your attempts at gaining attention are pointless. Secondly, the 6 hour blockage did nothing but delay residents and cost the taxpayers of this State thousands of dollars. Finally, in a location with a media bias against you, your one quote in the newspaper was "You're worthless." Nice message. Just who do you think you convinced during that whole event? If you want to pat yourselves on the back for being spiritually pure, do it in a way that doesn't upset your neighbors. And please try to lower the cost to the state. Demanding a CHP negociator was tacky and extremely expensive. I seriouly doubt that the three tickets issued came near to covering the costs of the police involved. Try to think things out next time.
the costs of the police involved, why?
You stupid fuckups should go to hell and start thinking about yourselves instead of the trees. FUCK U
To whom it may concern. It is clear that none of you people have a clue about what is going on.To educate you stupid people on our enviromentaly SAFE practices in todays logging industry;would take all day.So i would just like to say that all of you tree huggers need to step back and be educated on alot of things.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
