Santa Cruz bans Hacky Sack, political tables, etc.

by pointer
New rules will take effect in 50 days from the date of passage. They will ban sign-holding panhandlers after sundown, make downtown Hacky Sack and Frisbee players subject to fines of up to $160, and keep panhandlers and political tables 14 feet from building fronts, exits and crosswalks.

Yep, the yuppies have taken over another couple of feet of territory. Now that the damage is done, organize. Get groups signed on to oppose this. Start jamming the city council meetings with homeless and stoners and students. Get someone to print out their schedule and start to get yourselves seen. Sign up every last one of you to speak, and take up the whole meeting. It really makes a difference to actually show up on the territory of the city and people in power.

In SF, Sup Newsom has to have police escorts when he tries to speak in public on his homeless agenda - that's how it *should* be. The homeless know how to kick some ass.

It's hard when no one but about only 200 people are the ones who give a shit.
