JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The first of three men convicted in the 1995 assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin ( news - web sites) left jail Wednesday after an appeal to prevent his release failed, prison officials said.
Dror Adani was convicted of conspiracy in the killing of Rabin, who was shot dead at a Tel Aviv peace rally by an Israeli religious and political extremist who opposed the prime minister's policy of trading land for peace with Arabs.
Adani served three months less than his full seven-year sentence for encouraging Yigal Amir, the assassin, to carry out a plan to kill Rabin.
Police included Adani, 33, in a group of prisoners to be released early due to prison overcrowding. A parole board denied his release two years ago after he served about two-thirds of his sentence.
Youth members of Rabin's center-left Labor Party had appealed to the Supreme Court to reject Adani's release, saying he was still dangerous, but the appeal was rejected.
Amir and his brother Hagai, who supplied the ammunition, were sentenced to terms of life and 12 years in prison, respectively.

everyone knows that tthe shabak (secret service) killed the late israelian leader.
If over populated prisons is the case... Throw out the guy in prison that did nopthing wrong.... there always is a guy like that....

Well if the current Israeli government really wants peace, why then did they break any sort of peace agreement by killing 14 civilians and wounding over a hundred in an assination? Well, hey this should show you what the right wing loons in Israel think of Israelis who want peace. A person who was found guilty in conspiring to kill the prime minister was freed. And you all know just how brutal that assination was don't you?
