Is the war on terrorism for real?

by Mr E (wcellar [at] yahoo.com)
Take the one question quiz.

Here is the question:

Given the unprecidented increases in security implemented since 9/11, why has the
flow of illegal drugs into the US not been stopped or significantly reduced?

Comment:

How much cocaine and heroin has crossed the US border since 9/11? One would think that the
flow of drugs would have been reduced if not practically eliminated. Where are the headlines?

"Increased security from 'War on Terror' drastically reduces illegal drug flow across border"

or

"'War on Terror' bolsters 'War on Drugs'.

In fact, has there been any effect from the so called 'War on Terror' on the inflow of illegal drugs
into the United States? If a drug runner can get through with a kilo of heroin, a terrorist could get through
with a kilo of anthrax, right? This leave only two logical conclusions:

The 'War on Terror' is a total failure in that it cannot even stop drugs from coming across the border.

or

There is something we do not know about how drugs are being brought into this country.

The same security precautions are used to fight both of the so called wars, and the 'War of Terror' has
caused all of these security areas to be increased to unprecedented levels. Ah but the drugs keep
coming in just as they always have despite the increases in security. What is really going on?

Ask this question to everyone who will listen. Write your Congress person and ask them this question. If you cannot get
a reasonable, logical answer, ask yourself what then are you getting for the billions in tax dollars being
spent to fight these "wars"?

calling something a war (most especially the war on drugs and terrorism...) implies that one day there will be a big winner, and the war will end, and the violence will stop, and we'll all live in absolute peace just like in heaven.

this is one the stupidest strategies/catchphrases ever invented by the u.s. gov. talk about setting itself up for failure...

there needs to be a new word for "perpetual, smoldering, stop and start, never ending, violent conflict".

The War on terroism, in the sense of its toppling of the Taliban goverment was a war, it had a finite end which it attained. Bin-laden and his group were military men training in a country under the supervision and permission of the given goverment. These men attacked. The governemt was defeated. The search for bin Laden continues, and that is where everything ets bizarre. It is more of an international man hunt for people who pose a legitimate threat, something clsoer to trying to catch criminals than a "War." The objectives have changed but the rhetoric has not. GWB wants to stay in power and if he lets the people think that they are constantly at war, a war time preseident has never not been re-elected.

Well there is always the Shadow Government drug running programs that could really be making billions a year in the organized distribution of illegal drugs to the American people, while president whoever preaches of the evils of drugs thruough all the various means they have using the tax dollars of the same public they claim to care about.
