Wow, this is true optimism. Bakersfield is probably the most patriotic, jingoist, Christian town in the entire state. Lest you forget, Bakersfield is the town where the urban legend about how the Budweiser guy and the Frito Lay guy ran a bunch of Arabs out of town, takes place. You will be lynched if you walk around spouting your pseudo-socialist hypocritical pacifism. Good luck. Maybe you will convince a few picked-on high school students.

You might want to obtain some copies of War Times as an organizing tool:

"...[W]e live in a great and free country only because our forefathers were willing to wage war rather than accept the peace that spells destruction." --Teddy Roosevelt

What are you trying to start? The Spartacus Youth League in Bakersfield? Hahaha.. and the importance of "the movement"?? Come on..

The one problem that you will find in Bakersfield, and most other level-headed cities, is that the people do trust and have strong faith in their government. Unlike the urban "minority", or the homosexual athiest (see San Francisco), that finds his overwhelmingly supportive and free government to be suffocating, these people do have pride in being Americans and embrace the democracy that it represents.

Your trite, feeble 1960s idealism of "stop the war" and "give peace a chance" simply won't fly. Unfortunately for you, these people simply don't buy in to something so self-degrading. You fail to differentiate between war and protection. In your eyes, war is everything that involves a weapon, a perpetrator, and a victim. And outside your world, in the real world, (about 5 inches outside the radius of your body), there is a distinct difference between attacking someone with the simple intent of destruction, and attacking someone with the intent of protection.

Think about it this way, if someone attacked you or your family, would you protect yourself? If that person was able to kill your mother for reasons not beyond simple hatred, would you fear for your life also? Would you want that person caught for the sake of your own safety?

In the world today, we are dealing with terrorists. These people are not protecting themselves at all. You have read the anti-American quotes and the "death to all Americans" chants in the streets of smelly arab cities. They simply see you and your way of life evil, and as we have witnessed, they plan to destroy this way of life, even if it means taking their own lives.

This is not war, because the United States does not hate the Arab world with a passion. This is protection. And if you dare say that the Arab fundamentalists do have a right to run free, planning the demise of the Western world, then you sadly are supporting your own demise.

Cheers!

"[T] he United States does not hate the Arab world with a passion" but he refers to "smelly arab [sic] cities". He personally displays his racist attitudes. The US's attacks are ideologically supported by, even motivated by, racist stereotypes.

Yes, this is not a war about protection. It makes no sense. You can't destroy a tactic (terrorism). Serious examination of the wars the US has been involved in would show that only a handful were legitimate. I would say the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and WWII. Even the Civil War was not about slavery, but a contest between the Northern and Southern ruling classes. For that matter, the Revolutionary War was largely a war between the ruling class in the American colonies and the British monarchy.

Close, but no cigar..
You some how equate my comments about the cities of the arab world being smelly with some type of racism or stereotype I have of the arab world, which is complete nonsense.

You see, I personally find food that I am unfamiliar with to be simply unappealing. You probably find yourself cringing at the thought of a nice cup of snake gall and blood or pickled vietnamese eggs. Indeed, they do give off a stench that is horrid to the unaquainted nose.

Also, there is a large shortage of water in most Arab countries. You can imagine that people who are unable to have the luxuries of large water tanks planted on top of their mansions prefer to use their water sparingly (mostly for drinking and little for bathing).

So no, I do not think all arabs are smelly because I am a racist or prejudice against the color of their skin. I find their food and bath habits to be quite odorous. The word smelly does not have the connotations of being something bad; it could be described as akward or even unfamiliar.

Indeed those same smelly arabs that you are defending probably find the rotten tofu burger and stale rice cakes you are feeding your face with right now is repugnant (hell, even I do!). Its quite entertaining to see you and your left-wing buddies labeling my sarcastic adjective as negative and simply pass it off as "racism" or "slander". Come on, that's too easy!

In response to your second statement, "You can't destroy a tactic (terrorism). ", you can destroy terrorism. Terrorism is an action to be used as a means of coercion (in this case, coercion and ideological destruction [the West]). The arab world is a haven of anti-democratic, anti-Western nations. Now, if you are able to destroy the Islamic government that continues to feed this vein of non-Western ideas and open up these nations to democratic ways, you will see the end of most nation-sponsored terrorism. The rest can be taken care of through small military actions.

These countries might say (see Pakistan or Saudi Arabia) that they support the USA, but they do not support the democratic way of life. This is absolute nonsense. This type of ideological hatred is sprouted from the non-democratic Islamic form of government to begin with. Democracy and market capitalism pride themselves on freedom and a comfortable way of life. To see Americans and the rest of the civilized world enjoy the countless profits and luxuries of market capitalism is a kick of sand in their face. A lot of them take it personally, and simply pass it off as evil or even sacreligious (hey, I see some similarities in your racist logic!).

Simply put, even though these countries say they are allied with us, its simply a front. Their Islamic law and monarchy do not support, nor help alleviate the problems of arab fundamentalist terrorism.

The legitimacy of war is also quite entertaining. Tell me, why in the hell would the USA get involved in a war to begin with if it wasn't beneficial to them? If something was going to be detrimental or even harmful to you, would you do it anyways? Of course not! Read Nixon's book called Real Peace. It explains the actions of war in terms of benefits. This action of protection against the arab world is beneficial to the United States. Not only are we destroying every trace of anti-Western infrastructure in the Middle East, we are also taking steps to prevent any future harmful actions towards the United States.

Your comments referring to the Civil war as being a fight between the classes (get rid of the class-vision, please) are preposterous. The Civil War was a war between two ways of life, the industrialized north and the agricultural south.

Most nations in a process of building go through a similar revolution (known fully as the phenomena of the industrial revolution). Sometimes it does not require a full-scale civil war (such as in the case of Taiwan or Italy). Other times it does.

Please, put down your copy of the **People's History of the United States** and read some accurate historical literature.

Cheers!
