SF: Diesel Buses Must Go
Muni continues to put off the decision to replace diesel buses with natural gas buses
According to state figures, diesel exhaust accounts for 70% of the cancer risk from air pollution in California. So why does Muni sit on its hands?
The Bay Area has the highest percentage of diesel buses in the state at 88%, while L.A. is down to 50%, and Sacramento is at 35%.
Muni claims reliability is the problem, and yet, we hear no such complaint from the other cities. It's time for Muni to wake up and smell the dioxin.
