Having visited a web site specifically designed to protest against this one, I wonder if anyone else has become frustrated at the alarming tendency for ignorant racists to defend themselves by labeling those who argue against them 'anti-semitic'. It is true that anti-semiticsm is on the rise and this should be opposed, but all to often individuals who are themselves right wing bigots accuse others of racism. Israel, as many orhtodox Jews continually point out, is not a holy state, it's government is voted by men and made up of men, it is therefore falable. It can make mistakes, it is unfortunate however that this particular state makes an aweful lot of them. Israel has a dominant Jewish population, but it is not holy and does not divinely represent all Jews. History has often hurt the jewish peolpe, yet this does not give others who claim to represent them the right to diffy international law, human rights and bully their neighbours. For the sake of this troubled region's stability alone Israel must recognise International law, the leading figures of the world must force it to realise the truth of history: when a state or dominant ethnic group is aloud to bully a minority and strip them of their rights, claiming exception to the rules the backlash it inevitably recieves and damage to existing concepts of justice is extreme and long lasting.
Ignorance of the rights of others only encourages blindness to your own troubles when they inevitably come. Israel risks isolating itself from the world's sympathies (remember there is a world outside the US, Europe is gaining strength and the desire to enforce human rights and International law, as such could form a starting point for concerted opposition to right-wing Israeli bullying). Law is law, rights are rights, and Israel has violated both for too long. For the sake of the very credibility ofuniversal concepts of justice or even global stability Israel must obey the law.

I don't really care if Latuff is anti-semetic or not. He's an idiot and wrong about much. Where's your cartoon of the sniper now? Black muslims shooting people doesn't make for humorous copy in Brazil?
