San Francisco - June 28, 2002
By Jeff Paterson (http://jeff.paterson.net)

Approximately 400 people rallied and marched from Powell and Market to the Federal Building. The protest was initiated by International A.N.S.W.E.R. (http://www.internationalanswer.org) to:

* Say no to the FBI attacks on civil rights and civil liberties * Stand up against racism, racial and religious profiling * No new COINTELPRO * Defend Arab American, Muslim and South Asian communities * Stop the witch hunt against political and religious organizations * Free Mumia Abu-Jamal, Leonard Peltier, and all victims of FBI/COINTELPRO frame-ups * Money for jobs, schools and healthcare, not for repression and war * Stop the attacks on immigrants * Defend our unions – no government intervention in the labor movement

Speakers represented the SF Labor Council (AFL-CIO); BAYAN International; International Action Center; and many others.

Hundreds of bicyclists participating in Critical Mass joined the march upon arrival at the Federal Building.

The protest ended with Xochitl of the Not In Our Name project (http://www.notinourname.net) leading the protest in the Pledge of Resistance (photo top).
