Friday, June 28 around 400 people turned out for a demonstration against abuses by the FBI that was held in San Francisco. The demonstration was initiated by the ANSWER Coalition, and was in sympathy with a demonstration that was to be held in Washington, DC June 29. Demonstrators gathered at the tourist area at Powell and Market, then marched up Geary Street to the Federal Building, where the FBI has offices. As the crowd was arriving at the Federal Building, it coincidentally ran into a demonstration by Critical Mass, which was a protest made up of several hundred people on bicycles. The two demonstrations merged for a while in solidarity. The event was peaceful, and there were no arrests.

In the bottom photo is Maad Abuchazalah, who is running for Congress against Congressman Tom Lantos. He is holding a sign lampooning John Ashcroft.
