6/30 SF Gay Day: Stop Fascism; Join the Parade

As most people know, June 30, 2002 is Gay Pride Day in San Francisco. This year, it is urgent that everyone, gay, straight, lesbian, transsexual, transgender, bisexual and any other sexual orientation, participate in the parade to demonstrate to the current fascist president, George War Bush, that the gay liberation movement is here to stay and grow, and that we will not tolerate a fascist dictatorship.

In a very short time, Bush, Ashcroft & fascist company have gone from preventive detention for an indefinite time with no charges or lawyers in unknown locations of non-citizens to the same with or without some modifications for citizens. This is similar to what happened in Nazi Germany.

On January 30, 1933, when Hitler took power, there was a significant gay liberation movement in Germany. There were also millions of communist and socialist voters and millions of trade union members. All of that disappeared almost overnight when Hitler took power. After the Reichstag Fire of February 27, 1933, which Hitler blamed on the Communists when it was the Nazis who set it, he proceeded to eliminate all opposition and set up a fascist state at home so as to perpetrate blood for oil wars abroad and to destroy the attempt at socialism in the Soviet Union. He was supported by the world capitalist class, including George War Bush's grandfather, in doing this.

George War Bush had his Reichstag Fire on September 11, 2001, and is now busy using that excuse to stop all opposition in order to perpetrate blood for oil wars.

All gay parades are an opportunity for all of us who support the gay liberation movement, the peace movement and the Bill of Rights to show support for those causes and our opposition to George War Bush, who represents the homophobes, the warmongers and the fascists.

The San Francisco Gay Parade may not be perfect; nothing every is. But it is an opportunity to make a very loud and clear statement of opposition to the disastrous politics of George War Bush, which will certainly lead the world to nuclear war.

The Labor Contingent invites everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, who supports labor and gay rights, to join our contingent. There are over 200 contingents, so you should be able to find one that you wish to join. If you cannot find us on Sunday morning, 10:30 a.m., June 30, wait at the tent at 77 Beale Street near Market Street and when we pass by, join us. We usually have most of the socialist and labor organizations in our contingent and welcome all supporters of labor and gay rights. Bring your banners and leaflets.

Let's have a solid mile-long , sidewalk to sidewalk, parade of people marching on Market Street on June 30 for gay rights this year to send the desperately needed message to all the politicians that we support gay liberation, peace and the Bill of Rights.

I will be marching with my arthritic knee the entire parade route, even though perhaps I should not, because I will not live under fascism. If I see hundreds of thousands of young people there, I will know that we all will not live under fascism. I urge the young people who do not remember the era before 1969, when there was no gay liberation movement on the political agenda, to join the parade, whether you are gay, straight, lesbian, transsexual, transgender, bisexual or whatever. As far as I am concerned, you are a human being and no human being should have to live in a fascist dictatorship.
