sounds like not a single person disobeyed. that's too bad.

Sounds like Bush has indoctrinated into his public appearances the same policy as many of his predecessors (Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy…) had before him, only people who love me are allowed to have free speech, those who oppose me get thrown in jail.

>>sounds like not a single person disobeyed. that's too bad.

No doubt, Hank. Civil disobediance is desperately needed during these increasingly dark times. Not more sheep like behavior. People have to exercise their rights! I am sick of the insistence that it is "traitorous", "unpatriotic", and a criminal act to criticize Bush!

Well, here's an example of what happened at OSU, when President Clinton was there.

----------------
During a sometimes raucous rally at Ohio State University, Clinton offered a short list of proposals, including "school-by-school report cards'' to help parents determine where to enroll their children. As he spoke, a small group of hecklers shouted and waved Dole-Kemp placards.

...

The president was interrupted by students who jostled posters with Clinton supporters seated nearby as the president began to explain his education proposals.

Waving the Dole-Kemp posters, the group chanted, "Tell the truth! Tell the truth!'' and "Dole-Kemp! Dole-Kemp!''

"Stop lying to the American public!'' a heckler shouted. A college-age man seated beside him shouted back, "Shut up!'' and a woman yelled out, "You're a liar!''

------

There were security guards present when Clinton spoke, but, as far as I know, nobody was arrested and expelled from the university for heckling and demonstrating against Clinton.

So, certainly not trying to be a Clinton apologist. Actually, I wouldn't have even brought this up, but since you mentioned it, comparing these incidents shows the increasing intolerance of dissent by the fascist controllers, and their contempt for our constitutionally protected rights!

by works for me
If you (or the students at OSU) feel that their Constitutional rights have been violated, then file a law suit. Because the Court decides what is and isn't a breach of the law, you might want to forward your case to the ACLU (http://www.aclu.org) or consult a private attorney.

Bush was invited to speak at the Ohio State commencement by representatives of the graduating class.

But immediately before class members filed into the giant football stadium, an announcer instructed the crowd that all the university's speakers deserve to be treated with respect and that anyone demonstrating or heckling would be subject to expulsion and arrest.

The announcer urged that Bush be greeted with a "thunderous" ovation.

my search for an organizer of Turn Your Back On Bush, I did indeed hear the announcement. Graduating students were told that they would be expelled and arrested if they turned their backs. they were alerted that dozens of staff members and police officers would be watching the stands, as well as the Secret Service. ...

It didn't take long for our stomachs to turn....the first speaker (I believe the OSU President) began spouting about how proud they were to have Bush there. He said "We have a long tradition of inviting great men and women to speak at our commencements." I quickly responded "but since we couldn't get one, here's Georgie".

That got the attention of the state trooper in front of us. His eyes were on me the rest of the time. ...

About 10 minutes later, Shrub was introduced to speak. Before he even got to the stage, we did our about-face. I looked over my shoulder to see how many graduates were doing the same. However, everybody was standing at that point, and in pure black robes, it was impossible to see who was facing what direction. Furthermore, over that same shoulder, I saw one of Columbus' Finest heading our way.

We never got to see how many students participated. We were being led out of Ohio Stadium. To the officer's credit, he realized there was a 3-year-old in my arms and was not at all hostile. I asked him if I was under arrest, and he did not answer me. When we reached the exit, I asked the SS man why we had been ejected, and he told me we were being charged with disturbing the peace. ...

FLASHBACK
President Clinton Welcomes, Encourages Protests at Ohio State

October 29, 1996

Ohio State University
Columbus, Ohio

Full Transcript

MEMBERS OF AUDIENCE: Dole-Kemp. Dole-Kemp.

AUDIENCE: Booo!

THE PRESIDENT: Wait, wait. Wait a minute, wait a minute. Just listen to them. Wait a minute. Why are they screaming like that? We heard you. Now, how about the First Amendment. We heard your message, now you listen to ours. (Applause.) This is a university. This is a university and we have respected their free speech. They won't respect ours because they hate the truth. We're better off, and we had to run over them to do it. (Applause.)

Now, they must not have any student loans. Senator Dole voted against creating the student loan program. (Applause.) Ohio State adopted our direct loan program. They must not be in the direct loan program which gives you the right to pay your loan back as a percentage of your income, because Senator Dole led the fight against the direct loan program. (Applause.)

And they must believe we should start the 21st century as the only great nation in the world with no one in the President's Cabinet to represent education, because that is part of the Dole-Kemp program for the 21st century -- get rid of the Department of Education. (Applause.)

I welcome anyone to these rallies, and I welcome you to theirs. I hope you will never go to theirs and stop them from speaking. I believe in free speech at every university in America. (Applause.)

We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
