Suicide bomber hits restaurant near Tel Aviv
CNN Bombing in Israel
(CNN) -- A suicide bomber who asked for a glass of water set off a blast Tuesday evening in a restaurant in the Israeli coastal city of Herzliya, wounding as many as nine people, police said.
Two of those hurt were said to be seriously injured. The bomber was killed.
The terror attack happened at the popular Jamil restaurant near the center of the city around 7:40 p.m. local time (12:40 p.m. ET), police said. Israel Radio said the restaurant did not have a security guard.
A rescue worker said that one of the explosive devices the bomber was wearing did not go off.
Herzliya, an upscale community with a population of 100,000, is about six miles north of Tel Aviv.
Earlier Tuesday, a bomb exploded under an Israeli school bus near a Jewish settlement on the West Bank, wounding three students, according to Israeli sources.
