Planttrees and Sapphire on hunger fast at S.F. jail
PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL LISTS
Scott Munson, aka Plant Trees (planttrees [at] AOhelL.com), and James Caroll, aka Sapphire, were arrested at 3:30 am Tuesday May 28, 2002, during a free-speech vigil in front of the Gap store at Haight and Ashbury Streets in San Francisco. This followed a Memorial Day vigil at the store. They were protesting the clear-cutting of 230,000 acres of old-growth redwood forest in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, and plans to build tract housing there. The land is owned by the Fisher family, who own The Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic retail clothing stores.
They were wrongfully accused of vandalizing the building when there was no damage done.
Please call the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, (415) 553-9530 , and ask why non-violent protesters are in jail for exposing the Gap's clear-cutting of these redwoods, when we need that forest to provide oxygen to our planet!
Please go to the Gap at Haight/Ashbury, (or your local Gap, Banana Republic or Old Navy store) and protest! Bring food and music, and tell people that Scott and James will not eat until charges against them are dropped!
Please tell everyone you can!
