Local San Francisco Landmark Destroyed

by a
He has shown up at every protest in SF. He walks the streets of the financial district with his sign all day. Now his sign is gone after the police broke and confiscated it while he was getting on the Golden Gate Bridge for a protest.

Unbelievable. This guy is the most peaceful person . He never shouts just holds his sign up and shows up.

WHY THE HELL DID THEY PICK ON HIM???

WHAT KIND OF FUCKING NAZIS ARE THESE PEOPLE??

by anon
That guy is awesome! I love seeing him at protests, or just walking around downtown. This is definitely the second-most fucked up thing that happened at the protest today. First place goes to arresting a pre-teen girl for felony assault on a police officer because the cop thinks she's going to beat him up, and then throwing her in Child Protective Services, and then charging her older brother with felony child endangerment. Okay, so that's actually three things, but whatever.
by police violence
I saw them grab his sign out of his hands and pull it apart. i stood there staring and then they looked at me and one of them started motioning for me to come over with my sign . . . I turned around and went over to the gate and set my sign down on the side, then went on to the march. It was a close call. But later we dropped our sign when they were rushing us out of the parking lot and they wouldn't let us pick it again, so we lost it.
by ufo
We should help him buy a new sign if he needs help. Afterall walking around with that sign all day seems to be the major thing in his life and not having it could be devastating for him.
by Disinformer
This guy is definitely a CIA plant. That or he is with the PLA.
by Get a Life
Too bad the Police didn't stick the sign up his ass.

It would be pretty funny to see some America-hater walking around with a protest sign sticking out of his rear, wouldn't it?
by Soren Ragsdale (sorenr29 [at] yahoo.com)
Did anyone get a badge number of the officer that destroyed the sign?

It’s for all time to your liking to retrieve a fascist scat disgorge snicker. Applaud a law enforcement executive to slot revolver into the expulsion fissure of another? You do electrify. Your drollness aptitude is to dumbfound? Is erection only competent when bounded with the great deal of prurient brown leisure? You and your flaccid principle are virtually fatigued. Your n(o)ation is flat. Your essence will not subsist. You are superfluous and disposable.

I was deeply saddened to learn of this--if anyone knows Mr. Chu, please contact me. I'm a graphic designer and I would like to offer my services, free of charge, and help make him a new sign.
by Bob P. Moon
All the brouhaha over this incident is hilarious!

I like Frank, I used to chat with him downtown. But let's be clear: THE MAN IS TOTALLY INSANE and if you talk to him you realize that his protest doesn't make one whit of sense. Therefore it's not political speech and it doesn't really MATTER if some cop took his sign.

That said, I'm all for Frank being able to parade around as he likes with his nonsensical sign. But, as is common at many rally, you can't bring a weapon (the stick of the sign) into a sensitive area, like the bridge.

The fact that people would get in a twist about this is hilarious and indicative of the weakness of the Bay's fringe left.

My larger point is this: THE BAY AREA IS FILLED WITH EMPTY-HEADEDE LEFTISTS WHO JUST WANT TO MARCH AND PROTEST. (This from a leftist who's spent plenty of time marching).

And the Bay Area left's uncritical support of the PLO is truly sickening.

If people need something to protest and get all in a twist about, howabout protesting John Ashcroft by REGISTERING TO FUCKING VOTE IN THE NEXT ELECTION.

Nawww... It's more fun to do stupid, ineffective protests... Pass the bong, dude!
by Phil Lee
Bob P. Moon, you are a fool.

Regardless of what your own political baggage is or whatever self-worth issues you are working out, the fact that people are annoyed about Frank's sign being smashed up is not a part of some larger issue concerning Bay Area politics.

The problem here is the SFPD picking on a harmless guy who a lot of people like and find entertaining.

I think you are the one who needs to lighten up a bit. Damn, maybe you need to get some therapy or move to some part of the country where people do not piss you off so much or where you can grind your philosophical axes with other people with similarly sized chips on their shoulders.

It is rude to shout obscenities. Don't you realize that innocent children read this? Didn't your mother teach you any manners? Shame on you. Shame, shame, shame. Go wash your mouth out with soap.

If you take a look at the links contained above, you'll see that Mr. Chiu has had many different signs. He'll make another one and be back out there soon enough.
by Ina
Evil fucks. What the hell! they should raise serious shit about that. Let the papers know, he's known well enough in the town that I'm sure people will flip out
by Dr. Zaous
Sinse the CHP took his sign away, he should build a new sign that points to this web site, so that all who enjoy his signs can witness the love of the "protect and serve" culture.
by California Driver
I would like to thank Mr. Chu and all of the other individuals who were keeping "the man" busy. I was ripping up the highways at a minimum of 90mph while our Highway "patrol" was occupied beating up on Americans expressing their opinions. Peddle to the metal kids, freedom reins.
by LaGoy
check out this frank chu site:
http://www.witchman.org/guiltied.html
it has a link to my song "guiltified", about frank.
i also have a new song in which i wrote the music and frank chu wrote the lyrics:

first off, lard blotch is an idiot: your pretent(u)s words emit blather do.

second, i agree with that guy who said. there are way too many knee-jerk 'i must protest everything' lefties around. they give REAL liberals a bad name.

third, they shouldn't have taken away his sign. i love that guy! sometimes the right-wing fascists in this town are so piggish.

there, now debate this.
by what's that mean?
I don't know. You tell me.
by Dustin J. Pena (dust [at] project1525.com)
I'm not sure how or why this happened, but one thing is for sure, Frank will persevere! I used to do a cable access show in SF called project1525( no longer airing) and Frank quickly became our mascot appearing in all 15 episodes. He was like a second father to me. To here about this rattles my sense of individualism! Frank is one of the coolest guys I've ever met! He was always willing to give us interviews and even did some voice overs for our online comic. he is a great man with an even greater message. One thing is certain, his sign will be missed, but if I know Frank, he's already got a new sign in his hands and a guiltied president to impeach! To check out some Frank Chu interviews visit http://www.project1525.com

I spotted Rocket-man at the Not In Our Name Protest in Berkeley in June. He definitely has a new sign and is back in action. Thank you all for your concern. Also, not only did CHP feel the need to attack an 11-year-old girl, but also a harmless peaceful man with a sign.
by J.A.
Ok now it has been explained; Frank's sign was confiscated because he might have taken over the Golden Gate Bridge with a yardstick! My heart swells to know of such bravery as must have taken for our police to confront and subdue such a dangerous man! Don't worry about the Middle East my friends we raise enough idiot-bullies of our own and some of them are in charge. I hope to see Frank again on his usual rounds. The galactic forces of oppression cannot be allowed rest.

we live in this world where americans think they are supreme, where they let little girls dress like whores and men who objectify them, and its every ones right to be rude and obnoxious, this american country needs an enema, and to all the red neck americans who support all the plastic false superficial overconsuming supersized obese behaviours, well you can kiss my canadian hippy ass. Try living together with the thought that we all walk this planet. no wonder americans are hated everywhere.
by Why?
Why? why do Canadiens try so hard to be so different. The culture has benefited from our economy, and embraced individualism to a degree, but tries so hard to the world, they are not American, well I have a message, USA and Canada are North AMERICANS. And they are not hated all over the world, you would just like to think so as a Canadian, for people don't even hear about what your country does to support thy neighbor b/c you are too busy standing on a fence in the middle reaping the fruits of others. Cheers mate. An Aussie with an attitude.
by brother d-day
let's be perfectly clear, the SFPD had nothing to do with this guy's sign being taken. It was the CHP. If Phil Lee would have actually looked at the pictures he would have known that. Also, this guy has been in San Francisco for years and the SFPD has always let him carry his signs around. They know he is a harmless person. The CHP may have different rules regarding signs on the bridge, after all we are in "Code Orange" aren't we?
by Skip Doobymann
I must agree with the canadian......... too many Americans think that if you protest against anything American, then that makes you an "Anti-American"...... just because other countries have a dislike or your government, or your multi-national corporations, doesn't mean they dislike "America". Unfortunately, its the group of biggotted "Pro-Americans", the "your either let us walk over you, or you're a terrorist" bunh, that the rest of the world gets to see, and therefore perceives as the American stereotype........... I feel sorry for the majority of americans, who if they ever travel the world, will always have this stereotype preceeding them.......

theres always one thing you can do........... say your canadian..... to be honest, most of the world can't tell the difference anyway
by wtf
They had no right to tear his sign down, instead they should of thrown him in a institute because hes fucking inane, i dont give a shit what you guys say about what i said, all i know is if your against what i said, then your arrogant, and you are lying to yourself. GET THIS NUT OFF THE STREET PLZ
by poorslob
If you need to get a Frank Chu fix, stop by 12 Galaxies on Mission St. near 22cnd. If it's a show night, Frank will get up on stage there and announce his protest, sign and all. You may also get a chance to meet him in person.
by arnie
I know his brother, he mows my lawn. His name is Mr. Tu. They have a Cousin named Mr. Fu who owns a Chinese Place over on Mission. They make good fried crispy duck
