Dennis Cunningham & Tony Serra - Closing Arguments
More of K. Rudin's fantastic courtroom sketches, and quotes from the closing arguments
Dennis Cunningham
(from his closing arguments) 5-16-02
“Conspiracy is a complicated thing, kind of a forbidding concept, but it means a simple thing: a meeting of minds. One person doing something, next one joins in, and next one joins in. They all joined it – did what had to be done, to further this purpose .” …
"There was a meeting of minds at the car when they got there, around the idea that the bomb was in plain view. If it’s not in plain view, how can we associate it with them? If we saw bomb was in plain view, now we have something to go on. That was Doyle’s idea evidently, but everyone took it up. This was the linchpin of the plot. Now we can go forward, the headlines will come out. Earth First! will be hurt, the cause discredited, these people branded as terrorists.”
