More Broken Promises to Americans Detained in Israel

by Mahtin
Americans went off hunger strike because they were promised they'd be reunited, but they are still held separately.
Press Release, Sunday 19 May.

Again the Israeli authorities have reneged on an agreement made with the internationals illegally detained in Ramle prison, pending deportation.

Yesterday, Nathan Musselman, Nathan Mauger and Thomas Koutsoukos agreed to halt their hunger strike on the condition that they would reunited, having been separated earlier this week. This has not happened.

Thomas Koutsoukos telephoned earlier to inform me that he was still with Nauman Zaidi and Robert O'Neil, and that the Nathans' are still apart. Rick Polhamus, of the Christian Peacemaker Team from Hebron, attempted to visit Nathan Musselman today but was denied access. He was told that he could visit on Tuesday. In addition, the prison refused to accept phone cards he had brought for them. They currently have little credit available on the cards they do have to contact their lawyer and the outside world.

A legal representative from LAW, The Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights & the Environment, (http://www.lawsociety.org/) was permitted access to the detainees earlier today. It is expected that tomorrow will bring fresh developments regarding the deportation of these 5 American men, following a shutdown for a holiday weekend. The American Embassy does not open on Sunday.
