Interview with David Solnit during banner hang at Oakland federal building, 5.8.02
2 activists participated in a large direct action at the Oakland federal building by climbing two poles and hanging a large banner across the walkway in front of the building. Art and Revolution activist / organizer David Solnit was one of the climbers. Inside the atrium of the federal building, 20 more people were locked down around two enormous pillars, accompanied by an even larger support group. They demanded an end to US Aid for Israel's occupation of Palestine just as Sharon was meeting with Bush in Washington. 19 were arrested. MP3, 5 minutes.
