5/18 update about Americans detained in Israel

by Mahtin
Trevor and Kristin are back home, but several others are still detained in Israel!
Thanks to everyone's hard work and the Israeli and American governments not wanting to put up with our harassing phone calls and faxes, we got Kristin Schurr (5/16) and Trevor Baumgartner (5/17) back home to the US!

However, the other three men who were on a hunger strike with Trevor still languish in detention near Ramle. Trevor is going off the hunger strike, and the other three reportedly are, as well, because procedures have supposedly been initiated to deport them at Israel's expense. They have also been told that they will be put back together tomorrow (they've been held separately for several days now, although Tom may be with Nauman and Robert).

Nauman and Robert's situation is still a bit more complicated because they are American students in Egypt, but hopefully there will be some resolution early in the week.

One of Trevor's friends in Seattle said, "He was greeted by his mother and about 20 friends and supporters with banners saying "Welcome Home Trevor" and "Humanitarian Aid Not Military Aid."
Supporters wore t-shirts saying "Free Trevor, Free Palestine from Occupation" - as Trevor walked up we checked off with red pens the box next to "Free
Trevor." So, 1 down, 6 million to go. And we are not forgetting the 5 international observers who are still in detention. Keep those calls to the US Embassy coming; we've heard they have been receiving 4 calls an hour, all day, around the clock, and we know that this, plus the constant pressure on local legislators' offices and the courage and strength of the detainees
themselves, is what got them out safely. Thanks to all the detainees for using their situation to help get the Palestine story into US media."
