A Glimpse into the Psychology of Berkeley Republicans
People have been complained for awhile about all the right wing posts to this site and all the crazy people commenting. While some of the people posting are just people who stumbled across the site, many of the posts are an organized attack from some twisted wingnuts with a little too much time on their hands.
You would think with all the posts to this site, they wouldn't have time to post on other sites, but they do. These are the same two people who comment on most of the sf indymedia articles talking to each other on the Daily Californian website.
(Note form the discussion on spamming indymedia how they frequently post under other names on Indymedia)

"Over the Christmas season, the forum's exchanges struck a particularly sad, lonely tone, as the regulars spent their time posting flame bait in an unintentionally poignant plea for human interaction. On December 20, for example, someone who calls himself Jojo Gunn and hails from Tennessee linked readers to an article in the Weekly Standard and dared the mythical Berkeley liberals to defend their politics. "C'mon, all you somnambulist sphincter leeches," Gunn wrote. "Convince America that the universities aren't fronts for Marxism. Tell us that the professors and staff aren't deeply mentally disturbed. Let us know why you're not "progressive enough to protest against these fossils." On December 23, Gunn linked another story and wrote, "All you perverts who protested, all you perverts on the City Council, all you whiners and complainers and collaborators who sought to do nothing in the name of 'peace' -- read this, freaks. Read about the Taliban, and of missing women, of raped women, of young girls who have simply disappeared. Then apologize for it.
On Christmas Day, Gunn took time from his family to post a parody of "The Twelve Days of Christmas": "Ten melanin-deprived testosterone-poisoned scions of the patriarchal ruling class system leaping/ Nine persons engaged in rhythmic self-expression/ Eight economically disadvantaged female persons stealing milk-products from enslaved Bovine-Americans..." All of which underscores the false promise of Internet communities. Their boosters promise a new era of communication and citizenship. But all too often, they become a crutch for lonely, angry men who just want to vent. "

"Rory Miller is graduating this month from the University of California Berkeley and will attend UCLA Law School in the fall. He writes for the California Patriot magazine at Berkeley and maintains a news/commentary site at http://angryclam.blogspot.com"
He sometimes comments to this site but its mainly focused on UC Berkeley and his personal enemy, Snehal Shingavi. Rory quieted down for awhile after he got an article about Snehal published to Frontpage Magazine (the magazine of David Horowitz, know to many as the Spartacist of the right), but after the thrill wore off, hes back to quoting from Indymedia sites.

is pretty much what it seems the imc collective is already doing: not permitting the flood attacks to have any but a momentary success.
They're being fair, as far as I can tell. Single copies of articles seem to be having equal lifespan on the newswire irrespective of their political direction (other than the really irrational hate spam), but attempts to flood out the front page aren't being allowed.
I once observed SEPTA's (that's the public transit system back in Philly, where I used to live) subway and subway-surface systems go from being completely covered in graffitti to being virtually free of it. They accomplished this partly by being very assiduous and painstaking about cleaning it off as soon as it appeared. When a "tag" popped up in a station, it would either be removed or sealed and painted over within a very short time.
Once the graffittists realized that their efforts wouldn't last long, they seem to have found other places to "tag".
The mentality of Smashy and his little gang smells of the sort of people who like to deface others' spaces. Now, instead of scribbling his "handle" in a subway station, Smashy's more the type who'd be spray-painting swastikas in a Jewish cemetery, but the dose that cures the "cool Earl" types might just work on him as well.
No-one can go through their entire life in a continuous state of temper tantrum. Eventually, Smashy will figure that out empirically.

JoJo and Smashy (and the person spamming the site with corporate reposts under short female names), are all trying to waste our time. Look at their own comments to each other. They are not people you can reason with by using logical arguments. If they thought the "Left" hated China and wanted sanctions they would be first in line to call for trade with China. If they thought the "Left" liked China, they would call for sanctions. Thats why they are called "reactionaries"; they react to what we say and dont really have many ideas of their own (although Smashy appears to be sympathetic to Arian Nations but doesnt like their music ).
Everyone wants to get in the last argument and it does make sense to respond to real arguments with facts. But, most of the time Smashy, JoJo and their ilk are just posting angry one liners and just want attention. Unless you feel that they make a REAL point worth responding to, it is best to avoid engaging them.

Apparently Jojo and Smash the Left have deep emotional problems that I won't even attempt to touch. BUT I will say, I wanted to read the rest of the 12 days song and couldn't find it through your link. Sorry, call me sick, but that did sound funny

ahahaha. it just goes to show what lies beneath the david horowitz bullshit ...
These goofball's antics would be good material for a cyber parody. A cartoonist that's good with flash animation could have a field day with this inane saga.
"although Smashy appears to be sympathetic to Arian Nations but doesnt like their music"
haha
I don't why, but this reminded me of a scene in the movie Pink Cadillac with Clint Eastwood and Bernadette Peters. Clint, who plays a skip tracer, impersonates a "good ol' boy", and infiltrates a white supremist army camp by gaining their confidence while hangin' out in a bar they frequent. At the camp, while discussing the '"master plan", Clint's character questions whether or not it's really a good idea to eliminate the Jewish comedians.
