Cries of antisemitism are becoming increasingly nonsensical

by Frank Rich
Our press is not being muzzled, of course, but the dictates of what constitutes politically correct conversation about the Middle East are being tightened to the point that American leaders of all stripes increasingly seem to be in a contest to see who can pander most to American Jews.
Our press is not being muzzled, of course, but the dictates of what constitutes politically correct conversation about the Middle East are being tightened to the point that American leaders of all stripes increasingly seem to be in a contest to see who can pander most to American Jews. On the right there is Dick Armey, who went on MSNBC last week to say that Israel should "grab the entire West Bank" (and then tried to rescind his own taped words, much as he had once denied calling Barney Frank "Barney Fag"). Among liberal Democrats there is John Edwards, the presidential candidate, who on "Meet the Press" last Sunday seemed so fearful of losing a single Jewish vote or contributor that he answered straightforward questions about the Middle East with self-contradictory gobbledygook.

I can be as paranoid as the next guy, so I wonder about "friends," especially politicians, who only tell me everything they think I want to hear. And while I am grateful that evangelical Christians are both ardent and sincere in their defense of Israel, I can't ignore their theological self-interest in a Second Coming, either. This is what Gershom Gorenberg of The Jerusalem Report calls "apocalyptic foreign policy," in which Israel is supported "in order to bring on doomsday and, by the way, the conversion of the Jews." Indeed, one of Israel's loudest current American supporters is the Southern Baptist Convention, which only three years ago provoked a rare, unified protest by rabbis of all Jewish denominations against its use of "deceptive" tactics in a mass conversion campaign timed for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

'nuff said.

"Radio Islam is working to promote better relations between the West and the Muslim World. Radio Islam is against racism of all forms, against all kinds of discrimination of people based on their colour of skin, faith or ethnical bakground. Consequently, Radio Islam is against Jewish racism towards non-Jews."

That doesnt sound so bad. Im Jewish and oppose "Jewish racism towards non-Jews" just as much as I oppose "Christian racism towards non-Christians".

Since when did it become acceptable to talk of a Jewish media conspiracy?

Since when do you have the right to decide what is and is not acceptable to discuss?

If you think that RadioIslam.org is a GOOD thing then you are either:

a) A fan of Adolf Hitler
b) A mental retard
c) Sarcastic and I'm just missing it
d) Someone who hasn't actually read that website

So um - which one is it?

duh, i perfer michael savage!! a true multiculturalist with tolerance on the top of his agenda!
by J Kress
Savage becomes hysterical when any caller disagrees with him about Israel. He is a Zionist 1st and maybe an American 3rd. I would expect that he would not equate Israel's interests as our interests since all nations have their own self interests...Israel most of all. Horowitz in his bio said all the Jews in his New York neighborhood were communist sympathizers. Savage appears to wave our flag as a loyal citizen except when Israel's self-interests are involved. Whose to say what he would be if Joe Stalin were still alive.

Savage is exercising his first amendment right, something that is applauded on IMC when it is done by Muslims, "people of color", ETC. At least he has found a way to try and win over adherents without blocking traffice for six hours. While he is a massive extreamist there are a dozen Arab radio stations in this country who have been just as virulently anti-jew/west. The question is why do lefties support the rights of Muslims to be fanatics but not cranky old white guys like Savage. Or to use the euphamism IMC listeners love employing when they are acting as anti-jew sympathizers: He is not anti-Muslim/Arab- he is only speaking out against discrimination against non-Arabs and/or Muslims by Arabs and/or Muslims. And there is a lot of it. GUPS in SF just one of hundreds of examples I could give. If someone in this group is not harrassing, threatening, or blowing someone up they are not being referred to so no need for offense.
