May 11 rally for Mumia Abu-Jamal

by Harker (hilsonpp)
Brief summation of Mumia's case and an invatation to participate in the upcoming rally on May 11, 2002.
Right now Mumia is still on death row despite mainstream press accounts indicating otherwise. A Federal judge "granted" him the right to be resentenced meanwhile ignoring the polygraph backed deposition of the confessed killer Arnold Beverly. The state is appealing the resentencing decision and therefore Mumia has not budged from death row, where he does not belong.
On Saturday May 11 in San Francisco there will be a Mass march and rally to free Mumia Abu-Jamal. Speakers and performers include Marlene Kamish of Mumia's legal team, Marvin X (local author and spoken word artist, Pam Africa, Medea Benjamin (Green party senate candidate and Global Exchange director), Dennis Berntein (KPFA radio), Killu Nyasha, Diane Patterson (singer/songwriter) and many more. Also members of REFUSE + RESIST, the S.F. labor council, the Leonard Peltier Defense team, I.A.C. (international action center), American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Comm and the Peace and Freedom party will speak.
Assemble at Justin Herman Plaza ( Market and Embarcadero) at 11A.M. , march to Civic Center at Noon and rally there at 1:00. Both the Embarcadero and the Civic Center are MUNI stops.
Mass support for Mumia in this time of civil liberty deprivation is essential in order to overturn his wrongful conviction, please join us for this extraordinary event.
