The US threatened to extend its war on terror to Cuba yesterday, accusing Fidel Castro's regime of developing biological weapons and sharing its expertise with Washington's enemies.
In a speech called Beyond the Axis of Evil, the undersecretary of state John Bolton presented no evidence for his claims, pointing only to Cuba's advanced biomedical industry and Mr Castro's visits last year to three "rogue states" accused by the the US state department of sponsoring terrorism: Iraq, Syria and Libya.
"States that renounce terror and abandon WMD [weapons of mass destruction] can become part of our effort," Mr Bolton said. "But those that do not can expect to become our targets."
(snip)
Larry Birns, head of the Council on Hemispheric Affairs thinktank in Washington, said yesterday: "What is dangerous now is that the anti-terrorist war has no standards and no criteria. It is whatever the Bush administration says it is at any given moment."

...is a military industrial complex hungry for enemies, looking for trouble. i expect to see some advertisements soon, explaining the case against cuba, perhaps during the stanley cup playoffs...
(roll demented, backward sounding mariachi music...)
"Cuba. A land run by an evil dictator. A dictator with massive armies and airforces. A dictator with 500 nuclear warheads, all aimed at miami. You may think cuba is a poor and backward country, a failing bastion of communism. But in fact, cuba is hugely wealthy and highly advanced. And this is why it's dangerous. So remember, Cuba is wealthy, cuba has a massive, advanced army, cuba has 5000000 nuclear warheads, cuba has remote controlled monkeys with poisonous blow darts, cuba is run by a communist dictator, AND CUBA IS STRONG ENOUGH TO INVADE THE U.S. AND OVERTHROW OUR FREEDOM. OH MY GOD. RUN AWAY"
(mr. castro isn't a saint, but is he deserving of the amount of fear and hatred directed at him? did we hate stalin this much? but he is about to die. cuba will fall apart on it's own, if we let it. so why do we freak out about cuba? why do we wanna be all up in they bizness so much? is it the crack washington smokes, or the meth? no? then what?)
war makes money... i.e. the carlyle group
afghanistan, iraq, the phillipines, columbia, and now cuba. make way for perpetual war. not war like ww2, or korea, or even vietnam. but war like in comic books, where every fear and reason for war has been made up, invented, (excluding 9-11) because without made up fears, there would be no war at all.
what's real in all of this? the caskets draped in red, white and blue, rolled off the cargo planes. that's the only real thing to believe at the end of the day. that's the real price we pay.

Before the U.S. can start pointing fingers at other nations, it had better come clean about the origins of the anthrax attacks that killed at least 4 Americans & immobilized Congress at a time when the Bush/Cheney regime launched its War of Terror both overseas and domestically. Now the FBI, after months of foot-dragging, had to admit the anthrax source was of the Ames strain, which was developed by the U.S. in the Ft. Detrick military lab.
So who launched the biological warfare attack, Mr. BUSH??
