Massive Rally in Portland May 10 to End Commercial Logging

by Cascadia Forest Alliance (cfa [at] spiritone.com)
Massive Rally in downtown Portland, OR to end commercial logging on public lands and spotlight 100 timber sales in Mt. Hood and Gifford Pinchot National Forests
Speakers, music, art, march to Forest Service building
Action camp to follow on the 11th and 12th in the Mount Hood National Forest

MAY 10th * PIONEER SQUARE * DOWNTOWN PORTLAND * 11:30

Join Cascadia Forest Alliance, BARK, Oregon Sierra Club, NW Rage, Coalition to Abolish Animal Testing, Rainforest Action Network, Cascadia Forest Defenders, and others in a celebration of the cancellation of the Eagle Creek timber sale and a call for an end to commercial logging on public lands. After music and speakers from the environmental, labor, and religious communities, we will march to the Forest Service building to show them the overwhelming community support behind the end commercial logging campaign. Continue the weekend with us out on Mt. Hood for an action camp to learn about current campaigns and practice forest protection skills. The Bush administration continues to contort environmental regulations and promote profit at any cost, making an explosion of activist pressure this summer paramount to preserving the remaining life on our public lands.

Speakers include:
Susan Jane Brown, Executive Director of the Gifford Pinchot Task Force
Greg Dyson, Executive Director of Bark
Maria Damaris, Labor Organizer & Cultural Worker with Jobs with Justice and SEIU Justice for Janitors Campaign
