Richmond "Homeless Summit" May 1

by R Res
"West Contra Costa County REGIONAL HOMELESS SUMMIT"

Come and say no to Richmond's unconstitutional "Anti-camping" ordinance.
Tomorrow is the big day for the Richmond City Council's dog and pony show. The motivation for the "Summit" is probably insincere, but perhaps there is a chance for retreiving some value from this event. The fact that the group called Homebase has designed and is assisting with the proceedings increases the odds that, with a lot of pushing on the part of activistist/advocates, something useful might actually result.

Be there if you can. Don't let this be just another opportunity for the Richmond City Council to pat itself on the back without accomplishing anything. Remember, if you're not there to speak for yourself, somebody else will speak for you, and they may not say what you want.

Starts at 8:30 AM and is supposed to go until 5pm. Lunch is supposed to be provided (after a protracted struggle over this issue!)

Location:
Richond Memorial Auditorium
27th and Nevin Avenue (This is between Macdonald and Barrett Avenues)

You can part in the municipal parking lots behind the auditorium. The building number is 403 Civic Center plaza.

Directions: off I-80, exit at "San Pablo" exit, which will drop you off on San Pablo Avenue. Take the right hand lane and go to the first corner (a traffic light), and turn right onto Barrett Avenue. Continue on Barrett Avenue until 25th Street. Make a left on 25th St. and you will be at the back of the auditorium.

Or drive up San Pablo Avenue, and follow the rest of the directions above.
