Can you imagine George War Bush coming to an area where he got 15-30% of the vote? During his term in office, the attacks on the workingclass (those of us who sell our labor for less than $70,000 per year) have increased as our standard of living has decreased. All he has to offer is endless war, while we need butter. Come out to protest the reactionary policies of this warmonger, racist, death penalty promoter, anti-abortionist, school testing fanatic and anti-civil libertarian.

Foster city. How long is that outside the bay area?
by California Voter
Foster City is in San Mateo County, 21 miles from San Francisco. It is 27 minutes driving time from San Francisco. You go past South San Francisco, San Bruno, Burlingame, San Mateo. See:

The last people they're going to let get close to The President is a bunch of anarchist/leftists who worship Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme.

A wide variety of people oppose Bush's policies and every one of his appearances must be picketed. San Mateo County has an excellent voting record because a lot of union members live there. I expect to see lots of union banners at the demonstration. It also has lots of college students, some of whom have time to appear. Not only will San Francisco people appear, but so also will people from all over the Bay Area for a wide variety of causes. Bush is first and foremost anti-labor and that means he opposes 80% of the population who are the workingclass, those of us who sell our labor for less than $70,000 per year. Women are 53% of the population and he opposes our right to abortion. The death penalty issue is a major political issue, and we have a president who was known as a serial killer in Texas as he executed a person every two weeks. His entire police state agenda is opposed by every thinking person. Obviously, Bush as president is a social symbol. He is chair of the board of the executive committee of big business. It is the corporate executives of big business who will be appearing to pay $100,000 each to tell Bush what to do. That money is our stolen labor, in the form of profits. We can and must speak at our picketlines as to how we want our money spent: Not for war but for jobs, healthcare, housing, schools, public transportation and social services.

During the Vietnam War, every appearance by Pres.Johnson, Nixon and Ford was picketed to get our message across and to build a community of opposition to their warmongering policies. We not only stopped the war, we won all kinds of victories at home. In 1973, a Nixon appointee, Justice Blackman, signed the majority opinion in Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion (while Kennedy appointee Justice White dissented). Nixon was viewed correctly as another Hitler, but our mass movement won this important victory and we built a movement on many other issues.

It is a Tuseday during the day, so we will not have maximum turnout, but we can have a decent picketline.

We now have the momentum of a movement with peace demonstrations taking place all across the country, lots of labor strikes building a labor movement, and urgent social needs that must be met. Bush is doing a good job of building a broad united front of opposition to his policies, and that opposition must be and will be there, for the world press to see.
