IMC under attack?

Can't get through.

From france, 9:00 my time, can't get through to indymedias all over the world, including the home site, nyc, ontario, uk, and some others.

Is this paranoia or is something going on?

Try going to a few sites and see what happens. If you cant get through alert other alternative media sites.

§Problem is real

About 80 percent of the sites I tried appear to be down,
as of 1:20 Pacific Time.

Indymedia sites down now must be restored to the web now

Several indymedia sites worldwide (including the flagship
http://www.indymedia.org) are offline. They must be restored before this
weekend. The world is counting on us, and desparately needs us.

New visitors will flock to our site this weekend. We absolutely must be
there for them.

The Victoria IMC site went offline mysteriously for the duration of a
major protest, and no one can explain why. Mysterious website crashes are
unacceptable at IMC sites during major protests like the one this weekend.

GET ALL INDYMEDIA SITES UP AND RUNNING NOW!

Let people know by all means necessary that indymedia sites are down. Get
ready. They're planning some serious shit.

This is a BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG weekend. Make no mistake about it. The
empire is under duress. The leaders are desparate. These are very
dangerous people and we are living in very dangerous times.

The indymedia network is a collective of Members on six continents. We are over 75 sites with millions of readers and the most innovative communication system ever devised. The good folks at the
Independent Media Center is going to be bringing
The People's Media to you for a long time.

That said, the IMC is composed of Volunteers. We don't have a paid staff, hierarchy, or set (required) hours. Be assured that there are, all over the world, minds working to resolve the problems indy runs into.
Human, technical, financial.
We'll be fine
