Critical Mass Needs to Expand

by DeathToCars
With Bush continueing to expand his World Oil War, now is the time to expand the Critical Mass movement to include pedestrians and transit riders to protest the continued dominance of gas-guzzling, air poisoning automobiles driven by fools with maniacle attitudes.
With bush continueing to expand his World Oil War, now is the time to expand the Critical mass movement to include pedestrians and transit riders to protest the continued dominance of gas-guzzling, air poisoning automobiles driven by fools with maniacle attitudes.

A great idea for a massive protest would be to organize an action that would take place in four cities(Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego) simultaniously! Bicycle riders, transit users and pedestrians united against cars! Virtually shutting down the cores of four big cities! In the 21st Century, we can no longer afford to rely on oil and the Four-Wheeled Plague for our transportation!

Yes ! Do it ! Organize !

We here in Europe have greens in our governments, so we feel less pressed (we trust them). But now that we have a negative counterpole in the Black House, our forces will become stronger !

That's what evolution is all about, and that's why evil exists: so we can learn !!

I participated in one Critical Mass (SF) and it was a lot of fun. I hope to do more in the future. However, I found the following behavior needlessly obnoxious and counterproductive:

- a couple of bicyclists crossing over to the other side of the street, riding REALLY SLOWLY just to piss off some drivers.

- bicyclists shouting at pedestrians and especially at those waiting for the bus, saying "You're lame! Get a bike, losers!" which sounds way too much like the usual "get a car" from asshole motorists.

Critical Mass should be about celebration, not about tearing down other people. Have some fucking sense!

Now now, don't defame a few yahoos.

CM is a celebration., a liberated space, so many things to so many people.

Car drivers almost never hear anything critical, and how else to deliver a message than your voice?

It's not like many of them are reading indymedia or any other democratic/fair/participatory souce.

The number one source of revenue for the broadcast media is CAR COMPANIES.

p.s. check http://www.critical-mass.org/ to find a mass
near you! If there isn't one, START ONE!!!!

Criticizing car drivers would be one thing, but these morons were criticizing people who were waiting for the bus. I mean, how counter-productive can you possibly be?
by everyone's a critic
and done to achieve strategic political goals.

Fact: Bicycles are not appropriate for everyone or every occasion.

Fact: Blanket criticism of everyone not on a bicycle is, at best, insensitive and at worst, rude.

Fact: Bicyclists need all the friends they can get.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
