Bohemian Grove 2002 Action Planning Meeting
Preliminary planning meeting to be held for the next Bohemian Grove action this summer.
Bohemian Grove 2002 Action Planning Meeting
Thursday, April 4, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
New College of California
99 6th Street (Corner of 6th and Wilson) Santa Rosa
Please join us to begin the planning for a Bohemian Grove Action this summer. We hope to emphasize the public policy planning that takes place in private at this elitist gathering of powerful societal leaders. This action is a local event that has global implications. It's a chance to build a local network of organizations and affinity groups.
All interested activists and organizations are invited.
Agenda / Program for 4/4 Boho Grove Action Planning Meeting
-> Introductions
-> Orientation (Mary Moore and/or Starhawk to speak)
-> Formal proposal of organizing model:
+ Boho Grove action to be organized by consensus-based spokescouncil, representing interested affinity groups.
+ GJ/DANSC will not promote "backcountry" actions. GJ/DANSC does not advocate or support property destruction.
+ Affinity groups encouraged to help build event by bringing their own actions or activities. Spokescouncil will coordinate and form a schedule for the event.
-> Brainstorming session. Breakout groups & reportbacks if the meeting is large enough.
-> Affinity group formation. Existing AGs will be encouraged to introduce themselves and invite participation. Unaffiliated attendees will be given opportunity to join with existing AGs or form their own.
-> Next meeting date to be set. Next meeting will ideally be for spokescouncil formation.
This meeting has been organized by

§What's the point?
What's the point of organizing around BoGrove? I know a bunch of wealth and influential people meet there every year and they do some creepy ceremony with the "cremation of care," but what do you hope to accomplish? Is it raise awareness of people in the area? Most of the folks who live around there I think know what's up. Is it to let people outside the area know what's going on? Anyway, I'm interested to know what the purpose of the action is. I don't live in Sonoma County anymore but there are so many pressing day-to-day needs that need to be addressed by organizing efforts this seems like a diversion of time and resources.
