Dumb Dubya Partners With Murderers, Rapists And Torture Specialists To Fight His Perpetual War On Terror As The Great Bush Sleaze Mobile Rambles On
"War is not an adventure. It is a disease."
--Saint-Exupery, Antoine de, French novelist, essayist, aviator, in "Flight To Arras, 1942
"Against war it may be said that it makes the victor stupid and the vanquished revengeful."
--Nietzsche, Friedrich Wilhelm, German philosopher, in "Human, All Too Human", 1878
"The grim fact is that we prepare for war like precocious giants and for peace like retarded pygmies."
--Lester Pearson, Canadian Prime Minister, March 15, 1955
See what happens when you let a Republican into the White House? He wants to bomb the whole world into oblivion in a war without end, against enemies without number. (And in the minds of Republicans, there are always enemies, since Republicans have been getting elected for generations through fear, and nothing causes fear like an enemy intent on evildoing.)
Dumb Dubya is no different from his right-wing predecessors: Rancid Reagan had his "evil empire". Now, Dumb Dubya has his "axis of evil".
But all of his evil axis talk is just another load of crap designed to keep the U.S. in a state of perpetual war, which can be leveraged very nicely, thank you very much, in order to keep Shrub's approval ratings from sinking.
Shrub is an ignorant son-of-a-bitch, that's true. But he knows exactly what he's doing here. He remembers how high his Daddy's approval ratings were during the Persian Gulf War, and how those ratings collapsed like a boxer with a glass jaw shortly after the war ended, as Americans realized how useless, out-of-touch and corrupt Shrub Sr. really was.
Shrub Jr. also knows that continuing an endless, ill-defined and vague Holy War On Evil and Other Bad People will keep voters' eyes off of the Enron Scandal and the other antics, illegalities and crooked corruption of the Texas Turd and his Big Oil Buddies.
Another benefit to Shrub of a perpetual war is that he can scare the American People into spending obscene amounts of money on Pentagon Pork--missiles we don't need, airplanes that don't work and weapons systems we won't use, in order to further enrich his cronies in the defense industry and gigantic military industrial complex. (Shrub and the rest of the Republicans don't mind throwing money at a problem, as long as it benefits their fellow corporate profiteers.)
All of those weapons manufacturers who helped to bankroll Shrub's $100,000,000.00 run (read: purchase) for the Presidency, are now getting payback (cha-ching!). And Shrub has them salivating at the prospect of a military budget well in excess of $300,000,000,000.00 annually. (Defense contractors are sure they died and went to heaven--"Free money everybody!!! Free money!!! Lord have mercy, I love the Republican Party!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! Have one of my underlings call Georgie Boy and thank him, and pass the caviar while you're at it!!)
$300,000,000,000.00 for soldiers, military bases, guns, tanks, bombs, missiles, land mines, submarines, attack helicopters, and other devices intended to cause death or dismemberment is more money than has ever been spent preparing for war in the history of the world. By far.
Not even Adolf Hitler spent that much $$$ on war. Nor did Joseph Stalin. Or Attila the Hun. Or Genghis Khan. Or Napoleon--and all those guys wanted to rule the world. (Of course, none of them were card-carrying members of the Republican Party of the United States, either, though philosophically they weren't too far from it.)
It is a sickening and putrid obscenity that U.S. Presidents will feed the War Machine endless amounts of our tax dollars while children across this country go hungry every night, while millions go homeless, while 40,000,000 go without basic healthcare, while our national infrastructure sags and rots, and while the majority of Americans struggle to pay the rent and work like dogs just to survive.
Yet another reason King George, the "Thief In Chief", wants to have a Perpetual War is because war allows him and his cadre of Radical Republicans to stifle dissent and strip us of our civil liberties, the better to force us to do whatever is in their sick little heads.
We all know that Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft & Co. are ultra-conservative Control Freaks who want to impose their twisted worldview on the rest of us.
What better way to do that than a never-ending war?
No tyrant in recorded history has ever been so obvious and dull-witted as to tell his citizens that he wants to control them and manipulate them and see them suffer and obtain as much power from them as he can. No, the tyrant always comes up with good reasons, or fabricated but plausible-sounding excuses for his actions against The People.
Do you think Hitler told the German People that he was a megalomaniac who wanted to rule the world, and their lives, with an iron fist and a bloody boot? Hell no, he didn't.
He told them that the things he was doing were a military necessity and that he was merely reacting to outside, evil forces that wanted to destroy Germany and hated the German People and the German way of life. He had to do those things, you understand.
A perpetual war on terrorism also helps Big Oil a great deal. They get to build their oil pipelines and claim oceans of underground oil deposits as their own when the U.S. military moves in (remember Somalia?--it was loaded with oil) and bombs other countries into oblivion, which is exactly what is happening right now in Columbia.
Our military personnel are acting as private security guards for U.S. oil companies that are working with the bloody Colombian military and the ruthless dictatorship there.
And if a United States soldier ends up dying in order to protect some U.S. oil company's private profits, so be it. Perhaps a complimentary mug with Occidental Oil's corporate logo can be mailed to the parents of the dead soldier and a nice letter included.
"Thank you so much for your support. Your son drowned in his own blood so that our shareholders and corporate executives could swim in their own money. Best wishes."
Hell, Perpetual War is good for business gang, and it's also a nice way to snag a second term.
In the old days, delirious right-wingers drunk with fear, hatred and self-loathing saw a dreaded Commie behind every bush. Now, these ultra-conservative hysterics are seeing an evil terrorist lurking behind every bush, tree and rock in the world.
For all of these reasons and more, Shrub and his dingbat Band of Crooks want the war on terrorism to go on and on and on.
And that's not the only problem with Shrub's War on Terrorism. It just so happens that his war partners in this whole scheme are either terrorists themselves, or are busy funding terrorists.
Russia, for example, has been committing state terror, killing civilians in the break away Republic of Chechnya and is busy, with our partner China, supplying arms to Iraq, Iran and North Korea, all countries that are part of Bush's infamous evil axis.
Not only that, many of our other buddies in the war on terrorism, evil and other bad things are busily engaging in brutality and acts of terror themselves.
In the annual United States Human Rights Report, just released, countries including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, China, Israel, Turkey, Russia and Uzbekistan stand accused of severe violations of basic human rights.
These violations range from rape and murder of civilians, to the use of torture, forced confessions, arbitrary arrests, trial without legal representation, to harassment of political dissidents, extrajudicial killings, beatings of prisoners and suppression of basic political rights and freedoms.
So Bush is forging a coalition on terror with crooks, murderers, torturers and rapists? And why? To fight terror and other violent and criminal conduct, of course!
No one ever said Republicans made sense. Apparently, they only have to make money--for their corporate sponsors and fellow crooks.
And so, as you all can see, The Great Bush Sleaze Mobile rambles on.
