Is that fearless Earth First! spokesman-for-life Darryl Cherney taking part in an action?

The tree's name is Aradia. She is one of many threatened trees in Humboldt county that need to be defended from corporate greed. This tree-sit is on Gypsy Mountain, where David "Gypsy" Chain was killed by an irate logger in 1998. Soon after the wrongful death suit was settled, the trees were marked to be cut and the timber harvest plan was approved. Timber workers have been on the ground recently, preparing the roads for the clear-cut that will devastate this hill side. The tree-sit in Aradia is solid and defendable, but it is not just about this tree. It is blatently disrespectful and vile for Maxxam/PL to go after Gypsy Mountain, now or ever. Gypsy was killed trying to prevent illegal logging, which is Fish and Game's job. There was a tree-sit in Aradia that day, and Maxxam is trying to erase the evidence of their filthy greed by cutting this ancient, old-growth tree. Maxxam/PL should withdraw this Timber Harvest Plan.

Come to Humboldt to defend this ancestor and the few others that are left, and to resist the force of greed and denial that are pushing us toward ecocide! You are welcome and we need you!

Since the photograph is taken while looking up at the backside of a climber, Caffrey may have mistaken the picture of a human asshole for Darryl Cherney -- an easy enough mistake. Reminds one of the current Q & A up here. "What's the difference between Cherney and Cheney?" "Not much, they're both Dicks!"

Living in Aradia has been a blessing and lesson. The trees talk if you listen closely enough. Of course, not in the language of words but of feelings. Love, compassion, patience and beauty. This tree stands for Humboldt Conty, logging all around her yet she still stands.
The uneducated individuals with nothing better to do than bad mouth someone who works for the forest should do something constructive. They waste space otherwise.

Not that I don't share the impersonator's scorn for Lord Devvyl Cherwitz. He IS the Talking Asshole that William Burroughs wrote about in Naked Lunch.
